BLURB:

When the past comes calling, trouble’s never far behind.

FBI agent Cameron Byrne is used to running toward danger, but this time it’s personal. When devastating news pulls him back to Boston, he’s forced to face the cold case that shattered his family decades ago. The deeper he digs, the more he realizes he can’t do it alone.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Dominic Price should be the first person he calls. Except Cam isn’t out to his family, and Nic’s still keeping dangerous secrets while pushing him away in the name of protection. But when old ghosts and new threats collide, the only way out is together.

Reunited, they dig for the truth buried deep in Cam’s past. But the closer they get to answers—and to each other—the more dangerous the fallout becomes.

The second book in the Trouble Brewing M/M romantic suspense series turns up the heat with emotional stakes, undeniable chemistry, and heart-pounding thrills, now in its second edition with a fresh cover and light edits.

REVIEW:

The intensity is steadily building up in this series. Just when you think Cam and Nic are starting to roll along with their budding relationship, their respective life issues get in the way and seem to drag them apart once again. As we begin this story, Nic is still dealing with his father and his issues, as well as the danger that is all putting them in. To put a bit of a safety net out, he takes a temporary job in San Fran.

Meanwhile, Cam is pulled back to Boston to deal with family issues when his mother has a stroke. This leads to a whole other set of issues when the cold case of his missing sister from their childhood comes up bringing with it the still present animosity between the other siblings. Cam is determined to get to the bottom of the case, even though he has been unsuccessful for the past 20 years. He pulls in the help of Jamie and a few others to crack the case.

He eventually brings Nic on board but that brings a whole other set of issues due to Cam not ever actually having come out to his family. So, Cam and Nic are on fragile ground at every turn, but their commitment to one another pulls them through eventually, and they end up being able to fulfill everything they’ve learned they are to each other. Their relationship is a bit of a yo-yo that way – when one needs the support, the other provides, and vice-versa.

It doesn’t take long in this installment to feel the excitement and become immersed in the story. There are still a number of loose ends that will surely become future speed bumps before these two are able to just exist in their relationship without so many outside issues factoring in and distracting them. Needless to say, I am thrilled to be able to jump right into the next installment to see how this all plays out.
