One phone call can change everything.
Sick of snow and ice, psychic Tennyson Grimm jumps at the chance to head to Florida for a little fun in the sun. While sitting on the beach, his phone rings with a call from prison inmate River Ramsey who has a startling claim: “You don’t know me, but I’m your brother.” The man has been arrested for the murder of his business partner and needs Tennyson’s help to prove his innocence.
Detective Ronan O’Mara is stunned by the revelation. He’s determined to discover if Ramsey is a killer or simply a conman on the grift. As he delves into the crime, Ronan unearths devastating secrets someone is willing to kill in order to protect.
Caught in the middle is Tennyson’s mother, Kaye, who must come to grips with the fact that her husband had secrets of his own.
Who is River Ramsey? Did he kill his business partner? More importantly, is he really Tennyson’s brother?
REVIEW:
Ok, I just have to get this out… Pandora Pine made me bawl twice while reading this book. Twice people. That in itself should say everything about the brilliance of this book. There where a couple of scenes in this book that were so heart wrenching, yet beautifully written I had to stop and find the Kleenex. But at this point I have come to expect this brilliance from Pandora.
I would also like to note that this is the 25th book in this series. Does that mean it qualifies for a special recognition in the writing world? It should. The muse must be super strong with these characters, as she continues to create such a wonderful, yet realistic world. Please note that if you have not read the previous 24 books, please don’t jump into this book, until you have. Each book builds on the previous cases and life events.
The premise of this book is a bit of a departure from the other books, murder mystery with a twist. We met new characters and visit with old characters, that due to life’s little interferences have been brought back into the fold. I wondered for a while, where Pandora was going with one of the couples. I got my answer and I think everyone will breathe a sigh of relief, as I did.
The worldbuilding continues to get better and better, the further along we go in this series. I mean Florida in the winter – sign me up. What I enjoy about her worldbuilding is her ability to seamlessly incorporate it into the storyline. It’s not only the worldbuilding Pandora excels at. From the prose to the continued character development, you become even more invested in these brilliant group of characters. She creates an environment that is safe and nurturing even when evil is afoot. I continue to be amazed at her ability to keep this series fresh and exciting. I continue to be in awe of this fictional community she has created and continues to enlarge and enhance with each new book in the series.
I enthusiastically recommend this book. Don’t forget to RUN off to your favorite eBook purchasing site and grab up this book – pronto, you won’t be disappointed. I truly love this series and can’t wait for the next story.
