Wow, what a fantastic start to KC’s new series, Rough Harmony. There is nothing better than jumping into the deep end with a new series. We were given a glimpse of each member of this group in her prequal book, Rough Harmony. Which you should read if you haven’t. What could be better than a gay acapella group and some kink on the side.
Brilliant world building as usual. I truly expect nothing less from a KC Wells story. We are absorbed from the first page into a world of acapella groups, found family and first love; just some of my favorite things. With London as the backdrop for all of the chaos that ensues.
The sheer volume of research KC does for these books is impressive and shines brightly with our introduction to our first couple – Theo and Cam. Theo is our control freak, perfectionist and Cam is the laid back artist – who just happens to be the brother of Theo’s best friend. If that isn’t the recipe for trouble and angst, I don’t know what is. But entwined amongst this we have a wonderfully diverse group of side characters. Who help create the best found family ever. They each have their own trauma but man I can’t wait to see what happens next for each man.
I know I say this a lot when I’m reviewing KC’s books, but its just a fact of life, that her ability to write stories in so many genres is astounding to me. I just love how with this story and series, we are exploring a variety of themes. We have some very sexy times, some power exchange, and enough angst that I wanted to jump into the pages of the book and smack both men upside the head. A little secret from me, if I want to smack the characters – it means I’ve made the all-important connection to the main characters and have become totally invested in the story. Will Theo be the one to give up control? Will Cameron survive still being a virgin? Will the group find its footing vocally? Will Gary (Cameron’s brother and Theo’s best friend) every forgive them? Darlings, you know by now that I am not going to reveal any of the books secrets. You know the drill, if you want the answers – you need to read the book.
I highly recommend this book and insist you run to your favorite eBook purchasing site and grab this book up – you will not be disappointed. Of course, I would be remiss in my reviewing duties, if I didn’t mention, that I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
