Dr. Isaac Daniels and Detective Neil Thrope have been on and off Dom and sub since they met a few years ago. Isaac is all in but he’s not everything switch Neil needs, so good as things are between them, they both know it’s not enough.
Being in the BDSM community, Isaac and Neil were there to help when sub Alain Remy Broussard was assaulted by a pair of Doms who didn’t ascribe to the notion of safe, sane, and consensual. Their friend, Dom and therapist Cyrus Hughes offered Alain a place to stay, and has been working with the boy to help him regain trust. When Cyrus is called out of town suddenly, he calls on Isaac, who agrees to take Alain in while he’s away.
Isaac feels instantly protective of Alain, but it’s Neil who quickly bonds with the sub. With Alain in the house, Neil might have found the balance he craves but thought was too much to ask for. Isaac, though, has only ever had that kind of connection with Neil. Will the Dom be able to get on board and love both men as they, and he, deserve?
REVIEW:
Alain is finally healing from his assault by those two dangerous and abusive Doms. His stay with Master Cyrus is cut short by an emergency that requires the help of the two men who rescued him, Dr. Isaac Daniels and Detective Neil Thrope. Issac is a Dom through and through while his boy, Neil is a switch and needs something more than Doc can provide. With Alain added into the mix that missing piece might just have solved the situation. But when tragedy suddenly strikes can the three adjust to the changes or is it too much, too soon in their fragile new beginning?
I am going to say that this series states that “Note to readers: Each book in this series is a true standalone” when I read the two book however, I think that I missed something significant by not reading book one that comes after book two actually. It is never fully explained what exactly Doc and Neil saved Alain from and why he lived with Cyrus but they never connected. It was obvious that Neil and Alain clicked right from the start. It is also obvious that, even though Doc and Neil had drifted because Doc was unsure how to meet his needs and somehow watch him with another. But Alain was so sweet and just wanted to serve and be loved. As he deserved to be. He was the perfect fit for the switch and the Dom.
This book was a long, slow burn for me. And then suddenly the last few chapters seemed at warp speed. Suddenly Neil was in rehab. Then suddenly he was home with his men. Then suddenly he was out of a wheelchair and able to go out to dinner. This was a hard one for me having dealt with lower extremity surgeries in the recent past and let me tell you…it does work like that in real life! Then we get a quick end when Alain and Neil get their dream fulfilled and they are happily ever after as a threesome of a Dom, his boy the switch and their sub. I just kinda felt like the first 60+% of the book was a super slow build and then suddenly we were in warp drive. Don’t get me wrong, I like all three guys and I really wanted them to work out, I just wish the pace was a little bit more even.
