TITLE: Whipped Cream
AUTHOR: Andrew Grey
PUBLISHER: Dreamspinner Press
LENGTH: 100 pages
BLURB: Former model Brent Phillips now works the other side of the camera. He makes his money on senior portraits but wants to create an art exhibition. His only problems are lack of a central image and a three-week deadline.
Enter Brent’s friends, who resolve to discover the perfect model for his project. They find him in Tristan Greer, a college student who left home after coming out and is trying to make ends meet.
Though initially reluctant, Tristan agrees to work with Brent to capture the image Brent wants—a gay version of Herb Alpert’s Whipped Cream album photo. It turns out the camera loves Tristan, and the photographer may as well.
REVIEW:
As a fan – and I think I am allowed to call myself that – I didn’t even bother to look at the blurb when I picked up this book. I mean it is Andrew Grey so for me it is a done deal.
Yet there is always anticipation. I mean I am critic enough to be honest in saying that I like one over the other.
What a surprise it was that I found myself being drawn in this short book and to read that Brent was the guy that Gene and Dan saved. How cool was that!
Having a soft spot for those two guys – since I read the “Workout” series, I cannot deny that it made me smile big when I saw those men coming into this story.
And Tristan – oh man! He is sex on legs! And that is only by description and by how Brent describes him. And although in my opinion I think they go very fast in their relationship and that kind of made me want some more. The chemistry between them is undeniable and very sexy. Tristan is kind of perfect and I would have loved to have seen something there too. Those two points are my only points of critic.
The relatively simple story has some indistinctive points like dealing with what is beauty? is it just about what is on the outside or the inner true self? Can someone really look further than the first impression? In this case Can Brent really see that Tristan loves him for him and that it doesn’t matter that he is “damaged”?
Let’s not forget to mention the beautiful cover. I think I can say that this is one of the best covers I have ever seen. It fits the story perfectly and reading the story, it says it all.
For me, it was an enjoyable read and as always, Mister Grey doesn’t disappoint.
A good 4.5 stars for me!
