He’s my life. I won’t stop until he’s out of there.

Alpha Leonard Hale is sure of one thing—when his best friend, Adrian Cunningham, presents as an omega, he will be mating him. But before he can, Adrian disappears.

Leo searches for him for years. He searches until his dad informs him that Adrian has bonded. Crushed, Leo visits a brothel, convinced by his friends to get rid of the virginity he’d saved for his omega.

The last person he expects to see when he walks around the curtain in that brothel is Adrian …

Unbonded, Adrian became the problem of the state when his alpha sire died. Given a choice between the clergy or the brothel, he chose the brothel. He’d hoped Leo would come. Make it just in time. Claim him before they took him …

He didn’t. And all these years later, Leo is the last person he expects to see here, buying his time. Under the weight of his shame, he’s not sure he’s hearing Leo properly …

Because Leo says he’s getting Adrian out of here. But that’s impossible … isn’t it?

REVIEW:

Sasha Avice’s first attempt at writing an omegaverse story is awesome!

I really loved how she built up the world, the dynamics between Alphas and Omegas, the social expectations and also the hints at the Grim Reapers team.

Addie and Leo have been friends their whole life, they’ve always got along very well despite the different families they come from. At 14, Leo presents as an Alpha and after a few days, Addie presents as an Omega and their friendships become even closer. They both recognise in each other their own mate but they have to wait until their 18 to have the permission to bond.

Unfortunately, Addie’s father suddenly dies and, since he’s an unmated omega without family protection, the Government takes Addie away.

My heart broke for these two young boys who were ripped apart from each other and never had the chance to talk and sort things out. All Leo’s unanswered texts to Addie show his confusion, desperation and devastation. Leo tries to find Addie everywhere but after a while he’s forced to give up his hopes when his father tells him Addie bonded with another man.

For all these years Leo has been saving his first time for Addie, but now that he belongs to another person, there’s no reason to wait anymore so he lets his buddies drag him to a brothel. Poor Leo had to drink to find the courage to get close to another omega and he dreads the encounter.

The scene when they are face to face for the first time in years was beautifully and painfully written: the shame Addie feels because Leo knows what he has been doing the whole time, Leo’s fury on Addie’s behalf and his regret to not having done enough, there were so much feelings in that scene that shattered me. Obviously, I didn’t expect anything less from this author who’s never shied away from difficult situations and pushed her characters to work hard for their happiness.

All the days that follow are difficult: Addie and Leo are undoubtedly happy to be reunited but there are a lot of obstacles to their reunion and it’s hard to stay positive and to not give up.

The heat sex and the mating scenes were hot but also so very tender: Leo’s heart is bursting with adoration for Addie and Addie finally feels like he’s worthy of Leo’s love.

Luckily, with some unexpected help, finally they have their second chance at love and their HEA is beautiful and sweet. The epilogue was adorable!

I was lucky enough to read the first draft of the next book of the story and I already fell in love with the main characters. I hope that in the final version, Sasha will let us know how Adie and Leo are doing. These are the kind of characters that you can’t really let go and that you need to know are safe and happy.

Absolutely recommended.
