Blog Post incl Intro: TJ Masters – Bear Among the Books & Hands of Power

Just a few short months ago I got the rights to all of my books back from Dreamspinner Press and have started the long process of re-releasing them with shiny new covers etc. The first two books are the library inspired Bear Among the Books and the rugby centred story Hands of Power. With these now available in print I have also added a completely new novel with a very different story line called Ursa Major (Great Bear) and this should be available to buy by the end of the week.

In Bear Among the Books, forty-eight-year-old Ben Thompson is a Librarian, a passionate booklover and a man who embodies the gay image of a bear. He’s also lonely after the sad loss of his long-term partner. Young ex-gymnast Jason Barnes piques his interest, but Ben quickly realises that there’s more to Jason than his stunning good looks. While Jason visits the library almost every day, he never checks out any books.

With gentle persistence, Ben befriends Jason and learns the nineteen-year-old’s tragic secrets. After years of abuse at his father’s hands, Jason is kicked out of his family home for being gay. Also, despite his love of books, Jason has never learned to read. Ben offers to teach him and so the two men bond over their lessons. Ben cannot deny his attraction to Jason but he wonders if the lad is too young and too handsome to return his interest. With the help of the close-knit library team and Jason’s growing self-confidence, they soon move beyond the books and into the bedroom, where their own story is just beginning.

Hands of Power has a very different vibe where Richard Doyle is a star player in his local rugby team and a self-avowed ladies man, but he knows that something is missing. Caught up in his ultra-masculine world, he’s resigned to making the best of his limited life until an injury on the field brings him to the office of physiotherapist Alan Jennings where he feels the touch of a Master.

Alan isn’t looking for love when Richard walks in to his office, but something draws him in, and Alan senses that Richard’s true sexuality is coiled like a vibrating spring just under the surface.

The sex is amazing, but Alan will have an uphill battle if he is to convince Richard to trust him and to indulge in fantasies that are taboo in his world. It will take all of Alan’s patience and careful dominance, plus a visit to friends in Cornwall, to convince Richard to embrace his new erotic identity as a submissive gay man and to trust the found family that comes with it.

Next week I will be back to tell you all about the brand new novel Ursa Major.

Now in his 70th year, author T.J. Masters lives in Hertfordshire, just to the north of London, England, with his husband of 44 years.

TJ enjoys the love of his ever growing Irish family. Most of them live nearby, although some of the youngsters have now begun to spread across the globe.

In 2009, TJ took early retirement from a long teaching career in order to forge a new path. After qualifying as a life coach and NLP Practitioner, he found himself coaching a couple of would be authors and this rekindled his own desire to tell stories and get published.

With a lifelong passion for books, storytelling, and the sharing of knowledge, TJ woke up to the fact that he had stories to tell and books to write, but less than half a lifetime left to do it in. As for the kind of books he writes, lets just say that with some 55 years, experience living as a gay man, and much of that in the BDSM lifestyle, he has a ready stock of material and characters waiting to be written about.

From warm, cozy romances, to spicy encounters, the T.J. Masters universe has something for everyone.
