Beau is riding like the two-time champ he is, but nothing is certain in the world of bull riding–not winning, not happiness, maybe not even survival.

Beau LaFitte is a two-time champion bull rider who’s working on his third championshipp. Sam Bell is his longtime lover and traveling partner, and he’s feeling the sting of having about the worst season he can remember. The two of them are on the road together twenty-four seven, and it’s starting to get to them a little, between Sam’s constant injuries, and the relentless grind of the tour for Beau.

Add in friends on the circuit who need their help and the fact that they have to hide what they mean to each other, and it’s no wonder that Sam and Beau’s relationship starts to fray some from the friction. When things blow up in their faces, Sam leaves the bullriding tour for a while, but the boys find out they’re far more miserable apart than they are together.
Beau and Sam may agree to disagree in order to make peace and help out their friends Jason and Coke, but in the unpredictable world of extreme sports, nothing goes as planned. Can Beau and Sam recover from what just might the last ride of Sam’s life?

Publisher’s Note: This book was previously published. The publisher has changed.

REVIEW:

I was thrilled when I got the books I missed between And a Smile (book 2) and Century Trails (book 8). What a ride we have ahead of us.

These book all interconnect and on a same basic timeline. You will be jumping back and forth with each set of cowboys and all the injuries that are unfortunately commonplace for the men of the bullriding circuit and the bullfighters that are there to protect them with all they’ve got. But sometimes luck just isn’t in the cards and a 2,000 pound bull that’s mad isn’t easily moved from its target!

Beau always called Sam his  ‘Poot’, just like Sam called Beau his ‘Boug’. It’s just how it is. They have been traveling’ partners on the bullriding circuit together forever. But what most don’t know is that Beau and Sam are so deeply in love with each other. It just isn’t openly broadcast in their sport. Unfortunately, Sam hasn’t been having the best of years with the bulls and is getting tire of the losses and the road. But, thankfully, Beau is. His Cajun is at the top of the circuit board and lookin’ to three-peat the championship this year. But, when a ride goes as wrong as it can go and your lover doesn’t stand a chance, you do what you have to do. Even if it means dire consequences for you!

Poor Sammy. My heart hurt for what he went through and is continuing to struggle with. Traumatic Brain Injuries are nasty stuff. Either something so severe as Sam’s open injury or a really bad closed one…they do a number on the one experiencing it that most likely will affect you’re the rest of your life. And they can’t take having your bell rung again without extremely serious consequences. And I get why he did it. Why Sam just jumped in to protect Beau. He is the love of his life and was just laying there knocked out, and that bull was coming for him. He did what he had to do to protect the one he loves so much. But the result of that moment changed him and Beau forever!

I love that we see all our favorites here. Author BA Tortuga said it best in her author’s note at the beginning of this wonderful book:

If Jason and Bax are the courage of Roughstock, and Coke and Dillon are the soul, Sam and Beau are the heart.

I am quickly falling for all these amazing heroes and can’t wait for more!
