Flynn is just out here trying to live his #bestlife. He’s feeding his cat, running his business, and dating his boyfriend . . . well, trying to date his boyfriend. Every time things start to get intimate, something seems to interrupt them, no matter where they are or how many cell phones they turn off.

When the interruption is Flynn’s cousin, having been attacked and drained of energy, Flynn realizes that the monster who’s been killing dragons isn’t just a distant thing, but a clear and present threat.

But can a man who’s always let other people fight his battles handle his own this time?

Masquerade is the final book in the Knight & Daywalker series, starring one scatterbrained detective, a spoiled kitten, a frustrated, daywalking boyfriend who just wants a nice quiet dinner, the world’s most overprotective mother, and a whole cast of other friends Flynn has made along the way, including a surprise or two.

REVIEW:

I have to say, this is one of my very favorite series of the year so far. Flynn is funny and silly and so in love with his boyfriend. It’s so adorable how cute they are together. But their sense of duty and good hearts keeping getting in the way of having any “fun”. Their frustration and irritation is so much fun to read.

Flynn thought he had time to figure things out, but life has other ideas. The crisis he knew was coming but hoping to avoid for a while comes fast to smack him in the face with the urgency of it all.

My favorite part of this series is how Flynn and Davin interact with everyone else. Twist has everyone wrapped around her little paw, including Flynn’s mother, and she’s the fiercest vampire in California. Their friends all adore them and are willing to jump in to help anytime at they need help and Flynn really has no idea how much they love him.

I love how Flynn is self-deprecating and Davin is having none of it. He’s willing to literally walk through fire for his man and Flynn just better get used to it. I love their banter and while there were some really heart wrenching scenes, I very much enjoyed how much I laughed through this book. Flynn’s habit of accidentally saying his thoughts out loud is hilarious. I can totally picture him staring at Davin with stars in his eyes like a cartoon character.

The only problem with this story (like the rest of the series) is that once I turned it on, I couldn’t turn it off until I was done. Luckily, my night job allows me to listen and work, but my co-workers were always staring at me funny when I was laughing and gasping. I recommended this series to all of them.

And as I have said before, Greg Trembley was the perfect voice actor for this story. He never leaves you wondering which character you are listening to, they are all so unique. He sounds like he’s enjoying reading this story and it makes it all that much better to listen to. He is definitely my very favorite reader, especially with books that are kick ass and funny at the same time.

All in all, it’s easily a 5 hearts out of 5.
