REVIEW:

Mad Dragon of Chaos is the second book in the new spinoff series from Ms. Jocelynn Drake, Forgotten Gods. This is the continuation of book one, Broken Prince of Ice. If you recall in book one we saw Prince Shey and Tyche being held prisoner and Adrian and Haru trying to find them. We find Adrian and Haru frantically looking for leads that finally led them to the town where both Shey and Tyche were imprisoned. Someone is reportedly seeking people who possess magic. And most of these people were never seen again.

In book two, after the ending in book one where we saw another magical person died, whose magic was then captured by Tyche, but whose sister came to look for the magical orb intending to take it for herself. But the sister has other plans for the orb so it is up to Tyche to keep the orb and return it to goddess’ shrine in Brightspire. We see at the end of book one that Tyche gave the orb to Haru for safekeeping but the goddess who died was the Goddess of Nightmares. So you might be able to imagine how well that goes with Haru’s dragon magic and his overall personality of friendliness and positivity.

We see Prince Shey, Tyche and Adrian on their way to the Isle of Stone because that is where Haru flew to when he suddenly left Milway/Damardor. Possessing the orb of the goddess of Nightmare has a volatile effect on Haru, sometimes he cannot distinguish what is real and what it not. But Tyche’s reason for putting it in him is simple, the dragon is strong enough for the energy that the orb brings. Also, he knew that Haru’s family will never leave him alone, they will care for him while they find a way to bring the orb to Brightspire. When they did arrive in the Isle of Stone, King Caelan and his fiancé, Drayce, were already there. And when Haru saw Adrian and be with him, he sort of calmed down some more. The nightmares that plagued him when they were apart became less.

When they traveled to Caspagir in order for Prince Shey to assure his mother, the Queen, and his sister that he was alive,  something happened while Haru and Adrian were exploring, and Adrian was taken, and Haru just went “amok” which Shey and Tyche must control at once because if not, a lot of places will be destroyed and who knows where it will lead to. Tyche reached Haru just in time because Kaes was already there trying to coach Haru to give him the orb. Tyche took it out of Haru and in order to protect it from Kaes, he put it in himself. Now although Tyche is a minor God, he is already in possession of more than his own magic and he is old enough to know that if he cannot control himself, these magical orbs will consume him.

The adventure continues for these two pairs of lovers who have finally found each other but have to go through one more quest for them to reach their HEA. I cannot wait to see how these will all end and how they can finally put to rest the reason behind all these disappearances and protect all the remaining minor Gods.

Brilliant writing Ms. Jocelynn Drake and the adventure keeps the adrenaline pumping, I am excited for book three. Congratulations.
