Meddling with Maverick is my favorite pastime…

When pranking my neighbor backfires and he lets the Matchmaking Mamas set him up, it’s my duty to keep an eye on his dates.

If I sabotage them in the process, that’s just coincidence, right?

But when I call Maverick’s bluff that I could be a better date, I find myself in the matchmaking hot seat.

I’ve been straight all my life, but the prospect of a real date, real kisses, maybe even real love with a man doesn’t scare me.

It’s easier to meddle with Maverick with an invite to his bed.

In fact, maybe I’ll just meddle with him for life.

REVIEW:

Wooohooo!  I was so excited for a return to Granville – a town populated by a great group of quirky people who are nosy but supportive 🙂

Maverick loves his hometown of Granville.  He has opened his dream business – a floral shop.  Everything is going well with the tiny exception of this annoying hot next door neighbor.  Ever since Damon slammed the door on Mav and his welcome gift of cookies, they have been unhappy duplex dwellers.

Damon is a construction worker who drives a huge truck and parks taking up the whole shared driveway so that Maverick’s mini cooper can’t even fit.  Damon puts fake flowers in Mav’s flowerbeds.  Maverick puts signs in Damon’s yard.  Damon puts flamingos in Maverick’s yard.  They are constantly pranking each other and Mav is pretty tired of it.  After yet another evening when he comes home and can’t park in his own driveway, he advertises Damon’s truck for sale 😉  Damon gets back at him by signing him up at the Matchmaking Mama’s dating service.

Mav knows he didn’t sign up for the matchmaking service run by three of Granville’s senior busybodies who want everyone to be coupled up.  Mav hasn’t had a lot of luck with dating and his longest relationship ended up being with a “straight” guy who just strung him along for what he could get.  Mav’s tired of being along so instead of getting mad about it, he agrees to some dates.  Damon is not at all happy about that.

On the first of Mav’s dates, Damon convinces his friends to all go to the bar where he knows Mav will be.  When Mav shows up with a guy who nobody really likes and who pays more attention to his trivia team than to Mav, well Damon is unimpressed.  He buys Mav a drink and get’s in Mav’s data about not paying attending to Maverick.  Needless to say that date is not good.

The next guy shows up and Damon is furious.  The guy is a player and Damon knows Mav deserves better.  In fact he tells the matchmakers so and is determined to show Maverick the kind of romantic date he truly deserves.  Hmmmm.  Really?  It’s not like Damon has a great track record with dating.  His girlfriends have always broken up with him and typically he finds his stuff on the lawn 😉  But sure, Mav will play along.  Besides, Mav’s friends think that Damon is actually jealous.

Well surprise surprise.  Turns out that Damon may not have had luck with the ladies, but he sure turns on the charm with Mav.  But what does he really want?  Have his eyes been opened to what’s been in front of him all along?  Would he really want to date a guy?  Can Mav trust that this isn’t just some curious guy who is going to use him and then dump him??

Oh man.  This story is cute and hilarious and hot.  I love Mav’s pranks on Damon.  Poor Damon isn’t sure what’s happening to him!  How can a 30 year old guy not recognize that he’s been attracted to men?  Is it just Mav?  What can he do to convince Maverick that his feelings are real?  I loved the support from the friends and families of these two.  There are lots of wonderful cameos from character in other series, but it’s not necessary to have read those series to enjoy this one.  I adore DJ Jamison’s small town romances and this is another sweet and spicy addition to those books.  Mav and Damon are both vulnerable here and it takes them a few tries to get to where they need to be, but they finally do with a little help from their friends.  Loved it.  Highly recommended for fans of a rom-coms and small towns expecially.
