REVIEW:
I was so excited to see this pop back up on my feed, as I really enjoyed the first installment and was looking forward to seeing where this story was going. It didn’t take long for me to get right back into it remembering who all the characters were and what was going on. You really need to read the first book to understand all of that, as there is a lot of set up to get here.
This one picks up where the last one left off. Morgan and Lynx are happily mated, but there are still a few underlying issues to resolve. One being the hunters still after them all and the underground fight ring they need to take down which also deals with the two young shifters they rescued. The other is Morgan’s human bff, Ash, who he had to basically abandon after everything went down in the last book. They have somewhat reconciled, but things are not quite the same and understandably so, what with Morgan still keeping secrets about him now being a shifter, shifters in general, and about his seemingly over-protective and controlling boyfriend. It is a fine line between telling all and keeping everyone safe. Once Ash knows, will the pack be safe? Will Ash? Time will tell.
Then, there is the other aspect of Callum, Lynx’s second in command and MC VP. They are clearly attracted, but there are things getting in the way of that as well. Once Ash knows all, will he feel the same about Callum? Will he forgive the secrets? There is a push/pull here for Callum in allowing himself to get closing knowing he is likely to be hurt by the outcome but not being able to stay away. There is also the fact that Ash is Morgan’s best friend, so there is that connection as well that sort of binds him to the pack.
I am really enjoying this world. Not sure if it is because this story is really rolling now, but I enjoyed this a bit more than Lynx and Morgan’s book. I love the pack dynamics in this story as well. Lynx is the undisputable alpha, but they are all brothers and a family, and they don’t hesitate to remind each other that. All in all, this pack is full of great characters to love and a full story with a few tentacles that keep things interesting in different directions, but they all tie together to keep it from getting too out of control. It continues to maintain a certain level of not-too-fluffy, which I totally appreciate in a story these days. One of the more colorful and interesting characters is the dark and brooding, Jet, who I just know is going to be a good read. Looks like he is up next, and I can’t wait to dive in. Hope we don’t have to wait too long to get it.
