Tony
They say the best way to get over one man is to get under another. I’m not so sure about that. After I caught my last boyfriend cheating, I was ready to give up. When Jeremy’s friend, Greg Hayden, suggests a friends-with-benefits arrangement, I decide to go for it. But my feelings for him get stronger the more time we spend together and I don’t know what to do about it. When it looks like he might have a stalker, all my protective instincts are on alert. Will I lose the person I thought I could finally keep?

Greg
After an abusive relationship tore my life to shreds, I vowed I would never again give a man that kind of power over me. Tony D’Angelo challenges all my ideas about relationships. He’s kind, patient, and respectful of my boundaries. He’s protective without being overbearing. I’ve never met anyone like him. He makes me want to forget all my rules and let him into my heart. When strange things start happening to me and around me, I shrug it off at first. By the time I realize what’s going on, it might be too late.

REVIEW:

Note:  This series is connected to this author’s Down the Shore series.  As such, there are spoilers here for those books and the first book in this series.  Prior reading isn’t required, but is recommended since events and characters overlap.

Tony has caught his boyfriend cheating 🙁  It’s probably gone on for some time and it’s not the first bad boyfriend he’s had.  He kicks him out unceremoniously but he’s depressed about nearing 40 and being no closer to finding his person.  His brother tries to talking him into taking a break from dating and encourage him to figure out he really wants in life.

Greg has finally gotten his life on track.  He’s playing music again and his web design business is going well.  After his disastrous past with an abusive ex who he has a permanent restraining order against, he’s not into relationships.  But he does like and trust Tony.  They have a great time together and so Greg suggests a friends with benefits arrangement, convinced that’s all he can handle right now.

Tony is sad that Greg doesn’t want more, but he’s vowed not to push given his history.  Of course the more time they spend together though, the more difficult it is for Tony to just settle for that.

When it looks like Greg has a stalker, Tony decides that they need to reconsider.  Greg realizes he’s been hurting Tony by pushing him away.  It turns out both have caught feelings.  But there are a bunch of pressures that also need to be dealt with from both of their families 😉  Oh and that pesky stalker hasn’t given up either!

I really liked this second book in this series.  Tony and Greg both had relationship issues in the past.  The twist in that past just added another level of trust and empathy.  Both their exes were bad news but Greg is a bit farther removed from his, even if the fallout and lasting implications still affected his life.  The mystery of the stalker adds yet another twist to this story.  Plus there are some interesting developments with Tony’s cousin Sal 😉  I can’t wait to see how this plays into the stories of the rest of the D’Angelos!  It was great to revisit the couples of past books too and see Greg working with Jeremy.  There are some tense moments here, but the D’Angelo brother work together to save the day with a little help from their family and friends.  I really really hope we get to see more of Sal and Brendan 😀  This series set in New York is another good addition and I’m here for it.  It’s got romance, intrigue, found and blood family and plenty of heart for all of these men who used their talents to right some wrongs in the world.
