In the tree-swept beauty of Farthingdale Valley, two men emerge from the shadows of pain and hardship.
Hudson, scarred by betrayal, guards his heart fiercely. Released from a brutal chain gang, he’s ready to shut the world out.
Ty, released from the same chain gang, is a hopeful spirit with a knack for seeing the silver lining. He believes in what the valley can do, and is determined to show Hudson that trust can be rebuilt.
In a place where hot showers and good food offer more than comfort, they promise transformation–can Ty’s faith in the valley break down Hudson’s walls?
Can love flourish when trust has been shattered?
A gay m/m cowboy romance with opposites attract, ex-cons, mutual rescue, slow burn, endless flirting, and walking in the rain. A little sweet, a little steamy, with a guaranteed HEA.
REVIEW:
This is Book Six of the Farthingdale Valley series from Ms. Jackie North. These books are about men who are in the process of getting ready to get back to society after being incarcerated. Farthingdale Valley will further get them ready in terms of being with society again, doing a certain job and healing what was broken inside them when they were imprisoned. Most of these men were imprisoned for different reasons, being unlucky at that particular time they got caught, sometimes it was the only way to get out of a situation that was slowly killing them or sometimes they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. In Ty’s situation, he was trying to help but got caught in the middle and became the bad guy. Meanwhile Hudson was I should say, “obligated” by his brother to help him rob a bank because he wanted his wife to have the best, but imagine that, only Hudson got caught.
After being abandoned by his own brother, Hudson has lost his trust in this world and therefore doesn’t trust any other human and what the valley is supposed to do to help them. Ty is the opposite, he trusts in what the valley can do and believe that they are truly doing all of these in order to help people like him and Hudson.
As they were the newcomers, they were bunked together in one tent. They started to get to know each other, albeit reluctantly in Hudson’s case. He is afraid to give his trust to someone because of what he has gone through. He still doesn’t want to believe that someone in this valley truly care about them without any ulterior motive. His own brother has really done a number of him.
Ty is always optimistic, he sees the kindness of people and believes in the chances given by the valley to them.
What these two men went through we cannot imagine, being in the Chain Gang, used by their own warden for his own benefit, being taken advantaged of, and being treated worse than animals. In the end, it benefitted Hudson and Ty as they were compensated by the state for what they went through in the gang.
Ms. Jackie North has created this wonderful valley where anybody can have a second chance of being treated like a human again after being incarcerated. A place where there is no judgment and you can find men who are kind, generous and just decent human being. Thank you Ms. Jackie North for creating these characters who deserve every happiness, just like you and me.
