A gargoyle hotter than Goliath (IYKYK) meets a human bad luck magnet with a coveted power that attracts trouble like catnip does cats. Is it destiny or disaster?

Noah Price

When a mysterious magic shop owner draws the lucky tarot Star card for me, I drop everything and hop on a plane to Scotland for the bucket-list trip of my dreams. Outlander (and Highlander, for my fellow nerds), eat your heart out!

Chaos ensues from the moment I arrive and before I know it, the danger turns deadly. Then a smoking hot gargoyle-slash-Highland warrior swoops (literally) in to rescue me—and in a super sexy kilt, no less. Swoon!

My bad luck must be turning good because I’ve finally met the man–I mean, gargoyle–of my dreams. But Elryk DarkWing doesn’t share my optimistic outlook on life and our budding relationship soon has to take a back seat to a threat to our world. I believe in destiny, though–and I’ll make sure we get our HEA!

Elryk DarkWing

Guarding a powerful magic ley line in the heart of the Highlands has been the responsibility of the DarkWing clan for centuries. This wasn’t the path I’d wanted for my life, but here I am.

That is, until my fated mate shows up, an attractive wee human with a surprising ability and all kinds of trouble hot on his heels.

Can such a delicate being survive among battle-hardened gargoyles that risk life and limb every time there’s a threat to the ley line we protect? Can he adapt to this isolated life, removed from most of human society? Answer—not bloody likely.

Noah’s unique power has drawn the unwanted attention of friend and foe alike, and I soon realize keeping Noah safe is a Herculean task. I won’t back down though, because maybe…just maybe…Noah’s right, and our destiny’s is written in the stars.

A Highland Gargoyle’s Lucky Star is the first book (72k) in a spinoff series set in the Monsters Hollow universe and featuring the DarkWing gargoyle clan in Scotland.

REVIEW:

OMG, I loved this story.  What a wonderful spinoff of Chloe’s Monsters Hollow universe. Which is not required to read and understand the story, but I highly recommend reading that series.  As some aspects and characters from that series are mentioned throughout this story.

Chloe excels at worldbuilding, and this story is no exception.  From Chicago to the Scottish Highlands, she incorporates all of these iconic places into a wonderful backdrop for this paranormal story.  Including the legend of Loch Ness.

Chloe has a knack for creating wonderfully fleshed out main and side characters.  In this story we have Elryk and Noah and they are the most loveable main characters I have read recently.  Noah as the luck challenged “human” and Elryk is the Guardian of the main ley lines. These two give new meaning to opposites attract.  Not to be left out, her side characters are full of so much  sass and quirkiness, it makes the pages speed by.  I do have to admit that my favorite side character is Nessie.  I can’t wait for you to meet Nessie, what a spectacular addition to this story.

There are so many aspects of Chloe’s writing that I just love. From the wonderful pop culture references to her unique chapter headers.  But what I love the most is her ability to write action packed scenes.  Creating tense gut wrenching falls from trains to taking on creatures bent on commandeering the ley lines, you are immediately sucked into this story and must, MUST hold on for dear life throughout the whole book. That is not to say that the sexy times were skimped on – those were delicious as well… Did I mention humor… It’s laced with many, many humorous scenes.

Once I’m fully strapped in and catch a glimpse of myself in a hallway mirror, my cheeks burn with embarrassment.

Motherfucker.

“Are you kidding me? This is like the gargoyle BDSM version of a Baby Bjorn!” My feet dangle in the air—because curse him, Elryk is considerably taller than I am. When strapped to his front, I hang from his chest like an oversized toddler.

“Kill me now,” I whine.

My supreme and utter humiliation is officially complete.

If you love paranormal stories that incorporate more unique characters, this is the story for you.  Chloe has created a well-balanced amalgamation of humor, action, and pop culture references to create a brilliant fated mates story.  I highly recommend this story and suggest you run as quickly as you can to your nearest eBook purchasing site and snatch up this story, you won’t regret it. I look forward to the next addition to this Monsters Hollow Universe.
