Roland
Kenny’s outgoing and fun, and he makes me want to do more than my normal rinse, repeat.
I know Kenny’s only teasing me when he calls me Daddy, since I’m obviously too old, too straight, and my wife was my one true love. But there’s something about him that pulls out all of my protective instincts and makes me want to take care of him. As brightly as he shines, there’s a loneliness lurking under the surface that I long to… What? I’m not even sure, but I’m positive that I can’t walk away from my new…friend.
Kenny
Being the focus of Roland’s attention makes those stupid butterflies flutter around in my stomach.
My attraction for the absolute wrong men is why I’ve given up on dating. Roland’s straight and lonely, but for whatever reason, he enjoys my company. He’s also a caretaker, and it’s nice to feel so special. His life is changing and exciting things are on his horizon, so he won’t have time for me for long, but in the meantime, I’m going to enjoy the fact that I seem to be Reaching Roland.
Welcome to the Honey-Do Daddies in the Takoda Universe. Reaching Roland is an age-gap, bi-awakening story where there’s an abundance of family—by blood and found—love, and Daddies and their boys ready to make some big changes and transform their lives.
Please Be Kind To Yourself: This book speaks often about the loss of a spouse, and there are mentions of a teenage suicide. If either of these will interfere with your mental health, please pass it on by.
REVIEW:
Yum I do love me a silver fox and Roland is definitely one of these.
This is the start of a new series set in the Takoda universe called Honey Do Daddies. It is a definite crossover from the Love on Tap series’s and also contains characters from the Takoda Outreach Center series.
The main characters in this book are Roland, Cameron (from the various Tap series) biological father and Kenny. Both of whom have appeared in previous books in this universe as side characters.
Roland lost his wife Rhonda when she was far too young and has never dated since then. His main focus has always been on his biological son Cameron and son of choice Indie (Their story is in A Daddy in Cameron Love on Tap 2:Pain & Healing #2). When he is not spending time working or with his sons and their friends he is helping the local old folk with odd jobs around their homes. Well, that’s all he used to until he met Kenny at the Takoda Outreach Center’s annual Christmas celebration (Luca’s Unexpected Daddy Love on Tap 2: Pain & Healing #4). Since then, the highlight of his week has been going to see Kenny for a trim and shave at the salon where he works.
When Kenny agreed to be Santa’s helper and met his friend Camerons dad, a gorgeous silver fox, called Roland little did he know he would soon become a weekly customer of his. He has had to stop himself wishing for more with his new, straight customer. Especially as he has a habit for falling for straight guys and one who is obviously so in love his deceased wife is definitely a bad idea. But things don’t always go as you plan them too.
I loved that in this book we get to see some of the characters we have previously met including Indie’s Grandma of choice Miss Georgina and the Boys from the Tap. We also get to see Indie get some closure in relation to his dad and the lies and slander he told when he kicked him out.
I am looking forward to seeing more of the new characters we have been introduced to and hopefully more of the Daddies & Boys of Takoda.
