REVIEW:

I have been hoping we would get Maddox’s story after he appeared at the Goblin Market in the Black Cat Series. He is an Orc and I will admit I had absolutely no idea what that was but did a bit of going down the Google rabbit hole and it was easier for me to imagine him. But he’s such a sweet man/monster (although I don’t like using that word for him and the other paranormals in their world) and really just a giant teddy bear. He’s fierce and protective when need be but has a heart of pure gold. He does these really cool tattoos that have magic in them. The ones he does for healing are super intriguing. And his help with pain management, especially with aging humans, was so touching. I loved that he took the money, that Dani insisted he pay Maddox for guarding him from the ghost, and used it for pro bono work for those that could not afford his treatments (not that I ever see this sweet man turning away someone suffering). And he truly loves Dani! And I loved sweet Dani too. His original app was so cool and would help so many in their world.

I loved that Kota wove in some of her own struggles growing up and fitting in/being accepted, because of her being half Filipino like Dani, and how found family really can be key to finding you way and being part of a loving and caring group. She also shared, at her mom’s party, some of my most favorite Filipino dishes that I lave learn here in Hawaii, where Filipino foods are plentiful and so ono (yummy). Now I’m craving lumpia and adobo and want to try this Pancit!!!

I will warn you that Dani’s struggles with his ghost and what happened to him hit me pretty hard. And the fact that his fear was crippling at times is a real thing and made my heart hurt. As a person that suffers from night terrors and anxiety as a result of a physical trauma, I can only fear what poor Dani was going through from his ordeal his disgusting ex put him through.

I was worried when Nox’s true side was revealed that I wouldn’t be able to read him but he’s such a sweetheart and has changed his ways. I am really hoping we get his story sometime in the not to distant future. How could such a cutie not deserved his own HEA. I also wonder if maybe there is a short story in our future on what happened to Dani’s ghost after he made his choice??? Great read and big thumbs up for me 👍
