In a flash, the world changed. A solar flare—later dubbed Vertigo—activated the DNA of more than half the world’s people, granting them special abilities. Brilliant scientist Benjamin Krane might be Powerless, but his inventions are the only thing giving the police a fighting chance against super-powered evil. Ben doesn’t have much of a life beyond work, and when he gets wind of a robbery one evening, he decides to test his newest invention personally….
A thief, rogue, and shameless flirt, Grey Miller—aka the Streak—likes shiny things, but he doesn’t hurt people. When Ben catches him—and proposes they team up against the real bad guys—Grey doesn’t know whether it’s the offer or the man he can’t resist. But one thing’s for sure—they’re an ideal match in more ways than one.
With a psychotic supervillain’s catastrophic plan moving forward and everyone he cares about in danger, now might not be the best time for Ben to give in to Grey’s seduction, no matter how tempting. Grey is a man of secrets, and if Ben wants a future with him, he’ll have to learn to trust Grey—and himself.
REVIEW:
This was such a fun story. It’s another one I hope to see more of in the future. If not a full story, maybe a novella to see how the team duo is doing 😉 . Of course, in any good book, you have to have a villain that is making things hard, but even the bad guys had character. It was just so fun. I had a blast reading this.
Ben is a super smart scientist. Ever since Vertigo, where people with latent powers, got a power boost, there’s been Supers and Enhanced all around the world, using their powers for evil. Or even just something simple as being a thief. When Ben tries out a new gadget he built to help stop these Supers, he ends up caught himself by one. For some reason it didn’t work on this guy. But Grey sees something in Ben that has him captivated and for some reason he can’t seem to tell Ben no….much. But he has no problem with flirting and exploiting that chemistry they have either. But Ben has asked Grey to help him stop these evil Supers, especially the ones who have no problem committing murder or other mayhem. But stopping these guys isn’t as easy as Ben thinks and they end up caught with no way out. Can Ben, who is Powerless, save the rest of them and the man he loves, or are they all going to die like the Supers plan?
Grey had me cracking up this whole book. He is utterly shameless. And has no problem whatsoever in shamelessly flirting with Ben to throw him off guard. It’s so adorable the way Ben gets all flustered and tongue tied. It cracks me up. But Grey is a character unto himself. He’s just a pistol. He’s snarky, fun, and a bit of thief lol. Ben is trying to change him, but, but…..shiny, right? Reminds me of the dog off Up, only instead of ‘squirrel’, it’s ‘shiny’. But what I love about Grey even more, is yes, he may be a bit of a thief, but he knows where to draw the line. He knows he may be wrong in what he’s doing, but thieving is the only thing he does. There are lines he won’t cross. And he wants to help Ben do the right thing. It’s admirable. Funny, but admirable. But what makes it even better, is even with him flustering Ben so bad, he brings Ben out of his shell. He makes Ben, not necessarily better, but more open. More at ease with some things. They really are perfect for each other and work quite well as a team.
I’m serious. This book is so good and I really want a follow up with these guys. They are just so much fun. Even in the bedroom, it’s all in fun. I loved it. Highly recommended.
