When love’s on the line, the brave jump in with both feet…
Small town cop Clint Rivera can’t catch a break. His ex of two weeks is suddenly getting married, his dogs tore up his furniture, he’s getting evicted, and he’s out of beer. When he decides to solve his alcohol shortage by going to his ex’s engagement party, Clint winds up too drunk to drive himself home.
Enter gorgeous deputy mayor Hawk Black, the man who constantly shows up unexpectedly and sends Clint’s body and mind into a tailspin with nothing but his whiskey voice and blue eyes. After months of patience, Hawk can finally seduce the man he’s been craving.
Clint’s day might not have started out well, but Hawk’s going to make sure it ends with a bang, preferably in bed. He’ll show Clint some rewards are worth the risk. With love on the line, Clint will need to decide if he can open his heart, tear down his shields, and jump in with both feet.
REVIEW:
This is the second book in the ALPHA Series from All Romance eBooks that I have read. Like the other one, this one was just ok for me. The problem is they are just too short to really have any character development or plot development. This book is a very brief look at the beginning of a relationship between Clint Rivera and Hawk Black. They both live in Hawthorne, a small town in New Mexico. Clint is a police officer, Hawk is the deputy mayor. Clint has just broken up with his closeted boyfriend and headed out for a camping trip. On his return he discovers the ex-boyfriend is getting married. This is the beginning of his Very Bad Evening. But what he does learn that evening, is that Hawk has pretty much been stalking him for some time….
So this isn’t a bad story by any means, it’s just completely over done, unrealistic, and fluffy. It took me an hour or so to read it, it was fun, the sex was good, the plot is really limited, and the characters were ok. It’s hard to review a book that is so short, I can’t talk any more about the plot without giving it away, and there’s just not much too it. The writing was ok, there was a bit of cheesy porn star dialogue in the sex scenes, but that was not a huge problem. I generally like Cardeno’s books, this one was just ok. I’ve said that several times in this review I see!
If you are reading the ALPHA series, you’ll probably like this one, it’s not bad, I just like a little more substance to my books.

I’ve only just discovered Cardeno C (a friend recommended her) and I’ve just read this one, it made a lunchtime very enjoyable. Yes it was fluffy but sometimes, a quickie and a bit of fluff, is all you need!
