Hal

Mystic Hollow is home, the place where I belong. I’ve found friends, purpose, and a community that embraces me exactly as I am. The only thing missing is someone to build a happily ever after with. Then Skylar Wright checks into my bed-and-breakfast. He’s beautiful, guarded, and carrying hurts so deep they make my heart ache. Every instinct I have tells me to shower him with care, make him smile, and help him build the fresh start he deserves. With every moment we spend together, I’m falling head over heels. For the first time, my happily ever after doesn’t feel like something that only happens in books. Now all I can do is hope he’ll let me be part of his happily ever after, too.

Skylar

Starting over in Mystic Hollow isn’t an adventure—it’s my last shot at building a life that finally feels safe. I’ve spent too long surviving. Now I just want a quiet place where I can stop looking over my shoulder, heal, and chase my dream of opening a hair salon. I think I’ve found that in this close-knit magical little town. Then there’s Hal, the gentle sasquatch who owns the B&B where I’m staying. He’s patient, thoughtful, and so genuinely kind that I can’t help waiting for the catch. But the more time I spend with him, the more I believe this town—and this giant, soft-hearted sasquatch—really could be home. The only question is whether I can convince myself I deserve it.

The Sasquatch and the Hairdresser is the third book in the Monsters Hollow series, a cozy MM monster romance featuring an asexual sasquatch, a demisexual human hairdresser, hurt/comfort, found family, gentle caretaking, old-fashioned courtship, and a small town where everyone believes love is worth rooting for. Low on spice but overflowing with tenderness, this heart-melting romance proves that sometimes the softest love stories can leave the biggest mark.

Hal holds up one of his enormous hands. “This calls for a fist bump, don’t you think?” He blushes. “Ryder taught me it.” Too. Fucking. Cute. I reach up my own fist, and we gently bump them together. When we touch, a snap-crackle-pop of awareness zips through me.  Well, fuck. I definitely need to send out an SOS to Dr. P tomorrow. I don’t have a fucking clue what to do with how I’m feeling about Hal. All I know is that I can’t ignore it or pretend it doesn’t exist anymore. Thankfully, Hal dives into a history of the Harvest Festival, and I relax once again. The sound of his warm, rich voice is soothing, and before I know it, I’m nodding off. Hal’s presence is like a comfort blanket, albeit a big, hairy, adorable one—and I kinda want him to wrap all of him around me.  Ordinarily, I don’t like falling asleep in front of others. It’s a vulnerable state that I don’t trust people not to take advantage of. Too many bad experiences in shelters after I ran away from home as a teenager have made me a light sleeper. But for the first time in more years than I can remember, I’m sinking into a deep sleep on a couch, Hal right beside me. I don’t know how much time passes before it suddenly feels like I’m floating, and I rouse enough to find myself in Hal’s big, gentle arms as he carries me upstairs to my bedroom. I know I should protest, but being cradled by him is so fucking wonderful that I can’t make myself say anything.  When he lays me down on my bed, my heart lurches while he takes the time to remove my shoes and tuck me under the blankets. “Sorry,” I mumble, fighting to keep my eyes open.  “Think nothing of it. Sweet dreams, Skylar,” he murmurs, then turns out the light, closing the door quietly behind him when he leaves. Even in my exhausted stupor and with sleep pulling me under once more, I’m forced to admit to myself that Hal just might be starting to claim my heart, piece by broken piece.
