REVIEW:

Disclaimer:  This is book 5 in the New Adventures in Love series, and where it could be read as a standalone, you should read this entire series – it’s just that good.  But the book you really need to read before this one is Love on the Potomac as this gives Kyle and Jon’s backstory. A few thoughts on this one, make sure you have your Kleenex handy as this one just about broke me… And I didn’t see it coming, I will not elaborate further on this – READ the book.

Worldbuilding for RJ is taking on a life of it’s own, especially in this one.  I so appreciate his level of detail when world building.  He uses his knowledge of the tristate area to his advantage.  We travelled to Washington, DC., Rhode Island and Massachusetts just to mention a few places.  He incorporates the small details to create this sweet but heart wrenching story and it gives the story a very cozy feeling.

Our main characters in this one are Kyle and Jon from book three, as I’ve come to expect from RJ – His characters are well developed and that includes his side characters. They are not skimped on when it comes to all the details.  He creates a character driven story based on found family and how it takes a village sometimes.  I really enjoyed Kyle’s sister, btw. 😊 In this story we also get to see real life struggles and the consequences that come from them.

If you’ve read my reviews for RJ’s books before, you know I love how sweet and low angst they are, but the writing for this one is still sweet but there are some very sad moments in this book., hence the aforementioned Kleenex. Which is a small departure from his usual books.  I love seeing this new depth to his writing as he continues to only get better and better with each new book he writes.  Will Kyle and Jon survive all the changes in their lives? Where will Kyle and Jon end up? Will Wyatt bring them closer together? What part of the book broke this reviewer the most?  Well, Darlings, as usual I am not revealing any of the juicy details.  You know what to do if you want to know the answers to these questions.  READ THE BOOK.

Of course, I highly recommend this new book in the New Adventures in Love series.  What I need you to do is run – don’t skip or walk, RUN – to your favorite eBook purchasing site and grab this book up and be prepared to fall in love with this group of characters.  I can’t wait to see where we go next.  Maybe a visit to Hawthorne Bluff?

Till next time…
