Note: This series is tied to a previous duology, The Crowns of Melowynn. While not required, this book contains spoilers for those books and also the previous books in this series.
A crown lost to the sea. A heart bound by duty. And a love that could upend the tides of a kingdom.
Born beneath starlight and secreted away to be raised on the sea, Coelum Cadere has never known the glittering halls of his birthright. Raised by pirates and tempered by the open waters, Coelum is ararity among the city elves for he possesses the gift of water magicks. He’s more blade than courtier when fate drags him back to the kingdom that gave him away. The royal court expects obedience, grace, and silence—none of which come easily to a man who’s lived by the wind.
To guide him through the treacherous world of politics and etiquette, the king appoints his most trusted counselor, Le’ral Fylson—a brilliant, stoic elf whose heart has long since been buried beneath duty. Le’ral’s task is simple: shape the wild prince into someone fit to call themselves royalty. But as Coelum defies every expectation, he awakens something Le’ral thought he’d forgotten—desire, warmth, and a dangerous hope.
In a world of secrets and silken lies, love between them is unthinkable. Yet the call of the sea and the promise in each other’s eyes might be the only truths worth holding onto.
The Azure Warlock is the sweeping third and final book in the Heroes of Melowynn M/M romantasy trilogy and is brimming with political intrigue, age-gap yearning, courtly danger, and ocean-born magic—where destiny may crown a new king but desire can unmake an empire.
REVIEW:
Note: Not a standalone. This book picks up right after the previous book 😉
Once again, V.L. Locey proves why she is an autobuy author by giving us another fabulous tale in the Melowynn world. Honestly I don’t think there isn’t any genre she cannot write and this action packed romantasy is another example.
This story takes up where we ended with the last tale in this series, after the hunt for the maybe Prince Coelum, This time the story is told from Coelum’s POV. Coelum arrives at the court with his troll guard, the scout who helped find him, their baby dragon, as well as his mother and his first mate. He’s definitely a fish out of water 😉 This is completely new to him and he’s not sure it’s a fit. He is determined to stay true to himself, in spite of his heritage and expectations.
The grand advisor Le’ral and Coelum feel a connection. They have a sort of friends with benefits relationship although Coelum doesn’t think that Le’ral really cares for him. Eventually they get it together – but there is so much action going on with plagues and witches and more adventuring to be had!
This was really bit of a swashbuckler adventure. I loved the humor and heart. Coelum is a delight. Le’ral is a bit mysterious and since we don’t get his POV, there isn’t as much clarity around his motivations and or past. I really enjoyed them together though and this story was really delightful. This is a fantastic universe and I really hope there are more adventures here. Brava!
