When Author Layla Dorine entered her book contribution Prayers for the Prickly to the Heat, Prey, Love Multi-Author series I was enchanted with the grumpy wolverine shifter with a major sweet tooth mating with the prickly hedge shifter candy maker. It was a match made perfect by the fates. But I felt like there was so much more to this book/series/town. I’m so thankful that the author felt the same way and now we have this new series spin-off. It picks right up where we left off and I’m thrilled to be going back to the quaint coastal village of Rock Harbor and our seafood loving mates.
I love polyamorous books. Especially if they are fated mates stories and they find the missing piece to make their bond whole.
We had left off with Ever’s dreams shredded by Olly’s Mother’s tirade that forced him to close his dream shop after his traitorous relative put ants in his chocolate creations. And his belief that his newly found mate did not stand up to his mother during the public bashing. The only thing Ever felt he could do was close up shop and go work far enough away that he could work without shame hanging over him. His family warned him this was a horrible idea and that he would soon regret his actions. When his family starts blowing up his phone to call his mate, whom he had blocked during the move/separation, he knew something big was up. What he never expected was that Olly got pregnant during that romp at their two brothers hand fastening! A hand fastening that was suppose to seal both couples! Nor did he expect to find out that Olly had found their third mate! Boy oh boy was the family right this time. Maybe he should pay closer attention to what his elders told him!
Olly, Ever and Warren made the perfect triad. They complemented each other perfectly. And fertility is definitely NOT an issue at Casa de Warren! Ever does seem to have very powerful sperm and seems to be trying to unconsciously be trying to out do his brother August.
I will say that I don’t think Olly, Ever and Warren’s story is over yet. I hope that we at least get a novella that includes Warren’s wheplet’s birth and their hand fastening ceremony the Mom’s and Aunts have been planning.
I am looking forward to the Toy Store’s owners story that is also promised. I’m so glad we are getting more in the Rock Harbor Universe!
