By day, I’m Merrick, a merman performer. Elegant, beautiful, passionate, whimsical. Educating people on our planet’s oceans or livening up a party. I love playing a role and watching the light in people’s eyes when they see me in the tank. No one can resist a merman.
By night, I’m Nightmare, an anonymous vigilante streaming brutal justice on the dark web to a devoted online audience, delivering punishment to the monsters the system failed to stop.
When I get a call from someone I least expect, I can’t resist the siren song of taking out my biggest mark. The man destroyed my entire childhood, and for what? I get my chance at Influencer Con, where we’re both celebrities. This could be messy and oh so fun.
Unfortunately for me, I found someone to protect along the way and the more I get to know him, the more I fall in love.
Below the Surface is part of the multi-author series, In the Spotlight. 14 authors bring you 14 original stories of killers in the public eye. Where everyone is dying to be in the spotlight. Every book can be read as a standalone.
REVIEW:
We meet Casey when he’s about to murder a Priest.
Casey is incognito as Nightmare, but at daylight, he’s a chaotic sweetheart. He’s also Merrick, a merman performer. Weekly, as Nightmare, he’s live-streaming a murder online to a group of people.
One of the watchers is Dallas, a gym influencer. After watching he’s horny af, and needs to blow off steam. Through an app, he hooks up with Kay, a funny chaotic sweetheart.
They had a hot night, and there are follow-ups. When they understand they are both social media influencers, they decide to attend the Influencers Con together. For Casey the opportunity to eliminate someone he has had his eyes on for a long time.
After strange break-ins at the gym, and both Dallas and Hayden’s apartments, Casey takes over the reins.
So, we got Casey with his best friend Kendra, and Dallas with his best friend Hayden.
There are some details to know: Casey and Kendra are coming from a cult, and have been through hell. They are taking out douchebags who are responsible for the hurt in their own and others’ lives. Dallas and Hayden also have a story to tell.
Dallas and Casey’s lives had to cross one way or the other. Another detail: Dallas doesn’t know Kay is Nightmare, a killer, a protector over the ones he cares about!
While he’s a ruthless killer, he’s also a fun adorable guy. Dallas is head over heels in love with him.
If this isn’t enough to make a great story, I don’t know what will. But wait, there’s even more, way more!
It was a great story, at times wonderfully over-the-top. The writing was super-duper entertaining, I couldn’t put it down. The plot was genius put together, with a grand finale!
