BLURB:

I didn’t know the house I broke into belonged to a mafioso, and now my revenge arc is a lot more complicated.

7 years ago, I died. Nameless, forgotten, left in a ditch after an overdose. I don’t know who saved me or why. God? Satan? A good Samaritan whose name I’ll never know? It doesn’t really matter.

I don’t know who I used to be. My name, my past, they were buried. But somehow, I’m still here.

I’m not the only one the Sleepless Reapers have used and abused, but I will be the last, if I have anything to say about it.

I don’t need the attention of a mafioso. Even if Alessio is fun to play with, and even more fun to make beg. But I don’t have time for his devotion or his pretty, breathless pleas.

I have a score to settle, and I can’t rest until every last Sleepless Reaper is six feet under.

Alessio makes me feel something other than hatred for the first time that I can remember. He makes me hope one day I might be more than a ghost driven by vengeance. He can’t pull me out of the darkness, but maybe we can keep each other company in the shadows until all our demons are exorcized.

REVIEW:

Note:  This is the fifth in a series and has some spoilers for the previous books.

Well it’s finally Alessio’s turn 🙂

Alessio wakes up to discover a burglar in his apartment.  He catches the guy and tries to figure out what a burglar thinks he’s doing trying to rob a member of the local mafia family, the Morettis.  Oops.  But when the guy recognizes that Alessio is a sub, he’s able to talk, or rather order, Alessio to “service” him and let him go.

The burglar realizes he’s made a mistake.  When Alessio lets him go, he decides he’ll let this go and continue his vendetta taking out the Sleepless Reaper drug gang who got him hooked, used and abused him and left him for dead.  It was so bad that he doesn’t even remember who he is.  What his name was.  Where he came from.  He’s operated as a ghost ever since.  He barely recovered from his death in a ditch but his raison d’etre is taking out the Reapers.

The Moretti’s are unhappy about the “ghost” taking out the Sleepless Reapers.  They don’t want the eyes of the Feds on the town so they don’t like the ghost being so “messy” leaving bodies around.  Of course Alessio is distracted by his new obsession – the burglar who made him so hot.  He suspects that these two things might be related.  But there is a lot more going on and a lot of twists to come 😉

Oooooh this was  good one.  Alessio and his ghost are so hot together.  Luckily their objectives are aligned so the fear that Alessio is playing with fire that will really get him burned turns out to be not so bad 😉   Of course taking out the bad guys is a good thing, but they need a better plan.  All the couples from the previous books are supporting characters here and there are some very surprising plot twists and turns.  I also love the bad guys getting what’s coming to them 😉  I sure hope Enzo and Declan are going to be next!  This is killing me!

Nick J. Russo and Declan Winters narrate this book giving both POVs of these characters.  As usual, it’s perfection.  It’s hot.  It’s suspenseful.  It’s just a really good time.  The violence is not gory and the affection and eventual love between the MCs is believably portrayed.  Love this series.
