It’s never too late to fall in love … or so he’d have me believe.

Clark

I’m way too old to fall in love. What point is there in going to bars and spending time dating when I have my work to occupy me? I’ve risen up the ranks at work, and I have the fancy apartment and retirement savings to prove it.

But something is missing from my life.

The day I meet the young, attractive, flighty yoga instructor with the wild blue hair, the loss stabs through me. Have I wasted my whole life? Or have I simply been waiting for him this whole time?

River

A person’s energy can tell me a lot about them. And the guy at the back of my yoga class possesses an aura that screams, “Help!”

It’s in my nature to reach out, but perhaps my intentions are not entirely altruistic. Clark is attractive, and I can’t help inviting him to my upcoming yoga retreat. When I get him alone in the forest, I finally sneak past his high walls and see the real him … and it’s stunning.

My attraction to Clark is only growing the more I get to know him. But if we’re ever going to be together, he’s going to have to take a chance on a younger guy, someone who doesn’t fit his perfect, ordinary life.

I only hope I’m worth it.

Stray Slay is an age gap (nine years) small town MM romance with yoga, opposites attracting, spicy open door scenes, and, of course, lots of cats.. Go to linktr.ee/faraywrites for CWs.

REVIEW:

Note:  This is the fourth in this series and there are major spoilers for the previous books.  That being said, it can work as a standalone.

This is a bittersweet book since it’s the last one in this series.  We’ve had a great time getting to know the Rainbow Rescue Cat Cafe team and their partners.  We return the small town of Tripp lake for another chapter in the life of that cafe and in this instance, the resident yoga instructor, River.

This romance starts with River conducting a class that includes a student Megan and this time she’s brought her coworker Clark.  Clark would say she DRAGGED him to this class.  He’s a bit of a tightly wound workaholic.  His aura is in a shambles – something River hasn’t seen before.  It’s clear this man is TENSE.  Also it’s clear he is NOT excited to be there.  River helps him but he’s not all that enthusiastic about it.

River invites Clark to a retreat that he’s conducting.  Clark is not receptive!  But his friend Megan manages to find out about it and propose it as a team building activity.  Clark tries to stop it, but the horse is now out of the barn!

When Megan and Clark arrive at the retreat, Clark is still less than enthusiastic.  River starts off the retreat and then he offers to help Clark alone.  Clark is so tight and so out of touch with his body.  River is determined to help Clark release the tension and let go.  And boy does he 😉

Clark has conflicted feelings about their age gap (slightly under 10 years) which River has no problem with. It’s an obstacle for Clark though  He’s got some stuff he has to get over and work through clearly.  River is there to help him though.  In any way he can 😉

I enjoyed getting to see the rest of the couples in this series as well – all coworkers of River’s and their partners.  The cats as usual provide comfort and some comic relief too 🙂  I’m sad this series is over but this was a nice way to wrap it up.  I’ve liked River from the get-go and he was always a little mysterious so it was good to see him find his way to a happy ending even if it did take some work 😉  Recommended.
