REVIEW:
An MMM. Motorcycle Club Romance that also features tropes like Age Gap, Protectors-Protectee, Size Difference, Daddy Kink with some added hurt/comfort. A book that has a little of everything. This is the second book in the Valhalla Warriors series by Ms. Rosie Jarvis.
John Thomas “JT” Myers died at the young age of 24 years old fighting a war that killed so many young men. He sacrificed himself. He tossed his body over a grenade in order to save their Medic because who else would save his men if they get injured. His men can continue fighting without him but without their Medic, they will die too. But instead of “really dying,” he was “sort of” recruited to join Odin’s Army because of his valor. Invitations to join Odin’s Army are only offered to those who didn’t think twice in sacrificing themselves in order for others to live. He is to become a Valhalla Warrior. He was recruited by Celeste, a Valkyrie, literally on his deathbed. He has been a trainer of their soldiers ever since, never been sent to earth before.
Odin’s Army has been retrieving souls of brave soldiers in order to fight evil here on earth and even beyond. Valhalla Warriors are immortal. Odin and his Einherjar (Worthy Soldiers) have been fighting evil both in the present and the future.
Christopher “Kit” Billups was a very famous Country Singer but because he wanted to not renew his contract with his then recording label, they destroyed him by sabotaging his concerts and even the release of his last album. Now, he is starting all over again, under a new Manager and under a new recording label. His focus is totally on writing new songs and recording them for a new album. His Manager, though, thought that he needs protection because “little” accidents had been happening during his last concert, both on and out of the stage. All these little accidents happened after he left his old label.
Artemis “Art/Growler” Breckenridge is one of the Valhalla Warriors who has been here on earth for a while and is familiar with earth’s carnal delights, whereas JT is relatively new. He’s Pan himself. He believes that being a Daddy isn’t a title of just a kink, he believes it is a way of life. JT has just realized that he is attracted to both Growler and Kit.
When Kit’s manager decided to hire “bikers” from the Valhalla Warriors to be his protectors, it didn’t go well at first but then Kit saw that the pre-conceived beliefs when it comes to Motorcycle Clubs were totally wrong, in this case. These men are protectors through and through.
The attraction between the three main characters were instantaneous. Although JT and Growler have known each other for a time now, the attraction blossomed when Kit was there with them. When things started happening and Growler got shot in the head but didn’t die, the two protectors have to be honest with Kit. And Kit didn’t take it well. Because of what happened to Growler, Adam/Odin realized with his soldiers that Kit was only used to lure the Warriors into his life because ultimately the target all the while was Adam/Odin and his warriors. His enemy believed that if he could turn his own warriors against Adam, then he will become stronger and therefore conquer them.
This second book seem a little fast for me, especially when it came to the development of the relationship between the three main characters. There were no time for the “getting to know each other” really well; maybe because the story is a little shorter. And the fact that they only found out, towards the end of the story, that Kit was just used by Adam’s enemy to draw him and his warriors out seemed like a roundabout way of accomplishing things. I mean he could have just targeted one of the warriors themselves directly right? He didn’t have to use a human in order to lure his enemy out. Although I think this is a good addition to the series in order to build the story more for future books.
