BLURB:
Frank and Rand travel into the heart of New Orleans to solve the latest case. This should be the perfect opportunity to introduce Rand to the dangerous and sometimes dirty world of private investigating.
But the case is riddled with complications and trouble A century-old ghost has taken two young boys into the seedy bowels of another realm for desecrating his grave. To add to Frank and Rand’s dilemma, gay-haters stalk the streets of New Orleans, intent on wreaking havoc among the community.
With the assistance of a nun, Sister Francoise Genevieve, Frank must enter that other realm to rescue the missing young boys and dispense a little street justice in the human world to save the man he loves.
The Crossroads series is scorchingly hot & blends mystery, suspense & paranormal. All 4 books in the series can be read as stand-alones with the same characters, a happy-for-now ending & no cliffhangers.
REVIEW:
Another good one in the series, although I do need to warn you, there is a severe case of homophobia in this that lands an MC in the hospital hanging on to life. So if that is a trigger for you, please be careful.
Frank’s powers are growing and it’s really starting to annoy him, because the visions are coming to him when he meditates. Now they are coming to him at random times and it’s making things hard. But this next case he takes, is about to make things harder as he learns he has to struggle with powers he’s never known and about to find out how far his powers can go. In the heart of New Orleans, where ghosts are an everyday occasion, Frank has come against one that has ‘kidnapped’ two young boys, who were foolish. And with the help of a nun, it’s a race against time to save these boys and the soul of a ghost. And Rand. And with the help of the ghost, he has to save Rand.
I love New Orleans. I got to visit there many years ago and I love this history. I didn’t get to explore too much because of the circumstances I was in at the time, but it’s still a beautiful place. And I love reading the history of the place as well. So it was fun to read this one and the fact that Frank was having to deal with an actual ghost in this one. Of course, he has to deal with humans too, eventually, but his main task is to deal with a ghost set on vengeance and a nun who is more fierce than her looks let on. She’s got a spine of steel and gives Frank a run for his money in that stubbornness. It’s got some ups and downs with Rand in it as well, as Frank learns he has to compromise and realize what’s really important. Being right and protective or being with the man he loves.
It’s been a good set of books. I’ve enjoyed the paranormal aspects of it as well as the mystery side. Two of my favorite things. Give it a chance and see what you think.
