REVIEW:
Wowzers, this is a dark one! Nothing sweet or romantic to see here, folks. If you are still curious and can handle the violence, this story will suck you right in. Kuon was the police detective on a mission to take down the evil Yugo. Unfortunately for him, although I’m not entirely clear on how it all went down, the tables turned and Kuon ended up in the clutches of Yugo.
Yugo is a bad, bad man. He’s a seriously demented functioning adult. His intentions are to break Kuon but to play with him in the process, like a cat with a mouse. He was not expecting Kuon to fight back to such a degree that it excited him in ways he could not recall happening to him before. So, his “attraction” to Kuon grows stronger. He wants to evoke more from Kuon and does so by hurting him in various ways. It quickly changes into Yugo wanting the up-til-now straight Kuon to think of nothing but Yugo, both mentally and physically. This book spends the bulk of the time on Yugo making that happen.
The other aspect that this touches on is the S-Syndicate of which Yugo is a major player. There are various parts, including human trafficking, drugs, weapons, etc. and they all seem to involve terroristic countries, such as Afghanistan. Needless to say, there is a lot of evil going on that hints of the bigger picture, but again, this installment focuses on Yugo and Kuon.
Kuon meanwhile is struggling to maintain his sanity and focus on reality as his body betrays him where Yugo is concerned. By the end, Kuon is unsure of what is wrong with him for wanting Yugo while despising him at the same time. But, there are a few twists, and you will for sure want to have the next book lined up and ready to go, as this ends on a bit of a cliffy. Needless to say, I jumped right in and will definitely be keeping an eye out for more from this new-to-me author.
