REVIEW:
After Lyte left Jaydon over an espresso machine, a demon, Eluin, turns up at Jaydon’s apartment wanting him to sell his soul to get Lyte back. Eluin’s actions force Jaydon to re-evaluate his relationship with Lyte and his reasons for wanting him back. What Jaydon didn’t expect was the turn of events that followed.
What I found within the pages of this short story was a quirky, entertaining snippet from a portion of Jadon’s life that is turned upside down by a few demons.
Eluin is an immediately likeable scamp of a demon who one gets the impression that, although he knows the rules, he also knows all the loopholes. Jaydon is a, go with the flow, kind of guy, who has his pride, but also knows what he wants.
There are encounters with other humans, but the lion’s share of the tale is demon based – especially the second half. In this section, there is a sudden jump in the plot focus from Eluin to his brother Eluel and his fuck buddy, Sam, which took a while to get my head around. There is sudden drama, the reasoning of which is explained after the event.
I have to admit that, for me, Eluel and Sam were limelight stealers, who’s relationship troubles, added that extra bit of spark to the story.
If you are the type of reader that likes something a bit different and off the beaten track. This little quickie could be right up your street.
