Wendy Rathbone accomplished the impossible. I came into this book actually hating Malin. I could not envision a book where she could turn around him and make it a redemption story for him. But, of course she could and did!!!
Malin has it all. He’s away from his Dad and living off his enormous trust fund. He lives a very good life that mirrors his wealthy playboy/bad boy status. He and his friends party and all. But even he has principals. And what are those set omegas breeders doing at Bish’s party? And that “costume” they were required to wear was totally outrageous. So he does what he can, because he can, and rents the omega fighting from being drugged and used for the night. Even if he hates set omegas, especially his new step-father Kirion, no one should be treated that way. But what comes next when Malin’s eyes are opened wide by what Cassius shares with him about his life?
I absolutely loved this story and actually fell for Malin. That was something I never ever saw happening! He was such a nasty, spoiled, Playboy in his dad‘s book, and I didn’t see how he could ever possibly be redeemed. And his first statement that he hated Set Omegas really made me worry how this was going to go down. I should’ve known better. He really matured when he met Cassius. His eyes were totally open to what those poor omega were subjected to at those breeding ranches. But the part that really showed he had changed is when he saw what his supposed Friends were trying to do to his Omega. Because Cassius did become his. And Malinekan, his dragon, knew it! First, just to protect him and then to fall in love with him. Because truly, who wouldn’t fall in love with Cassius. He was strong. He had Spirit. And he didn’t back down. Plus he was beautiful. And he and Malin were extremely compatible. And that became poignantly obvious with the development of their mate bond.
I think the most special part of this book for me was when he finally reconnected with his father and met his little brother. He had finally grown up and become a responsible and protective alpha that he should have been.
I am hoping that there is more books to come in this series because I am truly enjoying each and every book. But this one was extra special.
