Sometimes when I start a new book in this series, I get new characters stepping up to the plate, wanting their story told. Other times, one of the characters mentioned in an earlier book wiggles their way into my brain.

 

That’s what happened with The Eager Boy. Stack and Robin first appeared in The Closet Boy. Way and Neal have a meal with a number of couples, Stack and Robin being one of them. Then Stack and Robin and a scene they do at the Gym plays an important part in Way and Neal’s story. Well, once I’d finished Way and Neal’s story, Stack and Robin were all about telling me what led up to the scene in question.

 

From the start these two didn’t go the way I expected them to. They wanted to start their story from when they’d already met, been together and broken up. So that’s what I did as I have learned the hard way that you simply have to let the characters lead the story – if I try to make them do what I think they should be doing, things go very wrong very quickly. Or the story stalls completely.

 

So I was surprised along the way as if I was reading the book instead of writing it. I hope you enjoy Stack and Robin’s story as it unfolds – just like I did!
