Alice talks to us about her new book , shares a cute teaser and brought a wonderful giveaway.
Welcome Alice 🙂
My newest book, Of Secrets and Wolves, has just released. So what’s it about? We have Rowan, a tracker, who is sent to help a tactical tracking team find two escaped convicts. He’s immediately pointed toward the nearby shifter pack, since there’s speculation they could be hiding the convicts. There, he meets the alpha, Quinn, who is unlike any shifter he’s ever met. He’s not the stereotypical muscular, tough alpha, but Rowan finds himself instantly attracted to him despite his better judgment. Together, these two have to put aside their differences and work with each other to find the missing convicts and keep Quinn’s pack safe all while finding themselves drawn to each other.
Like pretty much all my books, this one also has some comedy, but there’s a larger focus on the plot and romance. I’ve always wanted to write a series where the plot is less episodic (for example, how my VRC series has a case that’s neatly tied up in each book), and instead, we get to see the plot continue to grow and snowball as the books continue. What’s neat about this is that nothing has to be rushed in order to be tied up at the end of book one. It allows my characters to face what’s happening, then learn and grow until they’re able to overcome something they were unable to in book one. At the end, their relationship becomes stronger and they grow as individuals. The books don’t end in cliffhangers, but there are a few questions that still need to be tied up with each book.
This teaser is from the POV of Quinn (a wolf shifter) as he talks to Rowan.

He grins at me. “You are currently of no help. Like less help than Scott is being which is saying something.”
I cringe. “Oh no. Don’t say that. That hurts me right here,” I say as I pat my chest.
“It gives you heartburn?”
“A little bit.”
Rowan reaches into his trailer and squeezes something that makes a shrill noise, which snaps my attention to him—as well as Talon’s. “Will a dog toy make you feel better?”
I stare the traitorous man right in the eyes.
“Squeak, squeak?” he says before tossing the toy at me. I snatch it out of the air while still staring at him.
“You dare treat me like a dog?” I ask as I give it a little squeak.
“You like it, don’t you?” he asks. “The sound of a little innocent animal being murdered.”
I squeak it again. I do kind of like the sound. “Cute. Funny. Hilarious.” That’s when something catches my attention. A fluffy black cat minding his business. “What I do like is cats. I love cats! Look at that cat!”
It’s absolutely adorable but the moment I step toward it, it gives me a look, hisses as its tail poofs out, and then it’s gone.
“But they all hate my very guts.”
“Wow, that’s devastating,” Rowan says as he closes up his trailer and steps out. “That thing does not like you.”
“None of them do. I think they sense my wolf side and they all run from me. All I’ve ever wanted is to be a crazy cat man. I want to be coated in cats.”
“It’s… no wonder why they run from you. If someone came running toward me telling me they wanted to wear me, I’d run too.”
“Let me tell you about the time I nearly petted a cat. It was a dark and stormy day, lightning flashing in the sky, and there was this small cat out in the rain. I felt so bad for it, I knew I could warm it right up and I was already envisioning myself sitting with it, feeding it canned food that smelled like tuna and all the catnip toys it’d ever desire. And it looked me in the eyes, looked right into my soul, and leapt off the bridge into the river to get away from me.”
A laugh escapes Rowan before he can cover it up. “Oh my god, it literally chose death over you!”
“It lived! I watched it swim out but yes!”
Blurb:
Rowan
My whole life, I’ve been taught to despise shifters. So when I’m hired to track two escaped convicts, I’m suddenly thrust into the world I hate—or thought I did. Yet I’m inexplicably drawn to the alpha of the pack whose land the convicts may be hiding on. He’s different than any shifter I’ve ever met—laid back and quick to laugh, caring and protective, and makes me feel complete for the first time in my life. As secrets are revealed, I start to wonder if everything I’ve been raised to believe was a lie, though it may not matter because it seems like someone wants us dead.
Quinn
I’m no stranger to prejudice from humans, but it’s different when Rowan comes into my life. Though I shouldn’t let myself be distracted, I’m captivated by him. At first, he’s stiff, fighting to keep his misconstrued beliefs intact, but as I break down the wall he’s created, I’m able to show him a place among the fun chaos of my pack. After one of my pack goes missing, it leaves Rowan and me racing to bring them home, but the only way we’re going to survive this is if Rowan learns to accept the bond that’s growing between us—a bond that could give us the strength to put aside our reservations and give in to what both of us want.
Of Secrets and Wolves is an action-filled romance with a dash of comedy. It’s the first book in a series with a continuing storyline and an HFN.
