REVIEW:

This is my first read of a J. Scott Coatsworth book, but it definitely won’t be my last.  I quite enjoyed this fantasy story…even after a major twist half way through!  I’m not doing any spoilers on what that twist is, so don’t even ask!

We meet Jerrith in the beginning of the story when he is on the run.  Quite quickly we’re told the reason is that he kissed an elf…a male elf…and was caught doing it.  He is running because his society isn’t all that down with man on man kissing action!

The elf’s name is Caspian and he has been exiled from the Autumn Lands for doing something really bad.  The only problem is that he has no idea what that was because his father the King has had his memory erased.  What could the crown prince do to be exiled?  And why has he been being kept as almost an indentured servant to the other elves on the caravan that is traveling through Jerrith’s remote village?

What will happen when both men end up on the run from each of their peoples?  A delightful read.  I really enjoyed getting to know these two and I totally didn’t expect the major twist.  I dare you to read it and tell me you guessed it before you got to it.  You’ll be lying.  I’m going to have to keep this review short, because I’ve already given a couple spoilers, but since they are from the first few pages, I think I’ll be forgiven.

I recommend this book.  If you’re like me, and enjoy a good fantasy story, I think you’ll enjoy it as well.  Why not pick it up today?
