Positive he can win Jonny back, Russ calls in all of Cade Creek to help him. But someone doesn’t want them to be together, and they will do anything to prevent it, even commit murder
REVIEW:
This is book four in the Cade Creek series and continues with Russ and Jonny’s story. Jonny is Elliot’s baby brother (Farmer in the Dell). It’s a year later and Jonny has been in love with Russ since he and his siblings arrived. I loved how Jonny has changed from the scared young man to the focused, dedicated and strong one in this book.
Even though it was pretty good, there were a few issues I noticed with it. First is Russ had no idea what Jonny did outside of home. He knew that Jonny was in school but had no idea for what. He had no idea that he graduated and had a job working as a paramedic in Cade Creek. He (Russ) thought that Jonny was out all night partying and bed hopping which I thought was bizarre. How can you not know whats going on with a person who’s been living under your roof for a year whose brother is your best friend’s husband? How is it that you never had a conversation with Elliot or Mitch at some point about Jonny?
Okay, so now Russ find out what is really going on and realizes that he’s in love with Jonny. Instead of coming outright and courting him-which isn’t easy because Jonny is pretty ticked off at him—he enlists the help of their friends to go along with the dumbest scheme I’ve ever seen to win Jonny back. Russ proceeds with this play-hard-to-get, ridiculous and unnecessary silly little love games that one would expect from an teenager and not a grown man.
With that aside, I did like how they ended up. Jonny and Elliot deserved their HEA. The book didn’t have the insta-love aspect that the other books had because they already knew each other but that’s okay. I am really enjoying this series and the characters. I’m really glad the author decided to continue with this town featuring it’s other residents.
The books in this series have mild violence and may deal with issues such as domestic/family violence, physical and or mental abuse so if those are your triggers, I would recommend you skip those parts.
This book is part of a series and as such should be read in sequential order. It is recommended that your read the Blaecleah Brothers Cowboy series as their characters cross over into this series.
