Keenan wants his mate to come back, but after two months without any news about Jonah, he has lost his hope that the wolf shifter will come back to him. Then one night his phone rings and Jonah finally talks to him.
Jonah left Keenan because he needed to help the other wolves who had disappeared with him. He has a hard time staying away from his mate, though, and as soon as he finds Elliott, Merle and Simon, he runs back to Whitedell, hoping his apologies will be enough for Keenan to take him back.
Just when the two men take their first step in their relationship, something happens to Keenan and he disappears. Will Jonah be able to save the mate he has just started to get to know, or will Keenan be forever lost to him?
REVIEW:
Fellow Whitedell Pride addicts, it’s the book we’ve all been waiting for. Keenan, our much loved Keenan, finally has his own story. Well, okay, I say finally but lets be honest, this author is madly productive. As of June we started getting two new books each month. Oh my God, I read the first Gillham Pack book and loved it like mad. Xavier and Andy, arrrrh! But, I digress. This review is about the Whitedell Pride and Keenan and Jonah. Ahh, Jonah, the bastard that broke our Keenan.
For anyone who’s not down with this series, this is what happened – Jonah, a wolf shifter from the Gillham Pack was discovered and rescued from a research lab by members of the Whitedell Pride. He immediately scented that Keenan (everybody’s favourite human) was his fated mate. Keenan was pretty certain of it too, so when Jonah made no move to talk to him, let alone claim him, Keenan gave up waiting for the wolf to make the first move and simply asked. But although Jonah confirmed that they were indeed mates, he disappeared without a word and that was the last time poor Keenan heard from or saw him.
Poor, sweet Keenan. At this point he’s been living with shifters for about a year, he knows how matings are meant to work, he already lost the first man he ever loved when that shifter found his mate. Despite the fact that he’s human, he absolutely believes that if the fates have paired him with Jonah then they must be perfect for each other. So he can’t comprehend why Jonah has seemingly abandoned him. I thought it was great that these two main characters basically switched roles from typical shifter stories. Usually it’s the shifter who is ready to throw themselves into a mating and the human that needs convincing. But that’s just Keenan really. He never holds himself back, and we’ve witnessed that throughout the series. When he discovers that shifters exist, when he falls for a man after only ever being with women – Keenan oozes acceptance and confidence and joy. That’s why all the Whitedell Pride readers love him. That’s why Jonah breaking his spirit made me want to break Jonah’s face.
Jonah is just damn lucky that Keenan is made of awesome and when Jonah finally gets his head out of his ass and makes contact with Keenan, Keenan is willing to forgive the wolf. And when I say lucky Jonah, I mean lucky Jonah, because nobody does sex like Keenan does sex.
On top of the relationship drama, and the ongoing drama with the Glass Research Company we also have the addition of my favourite shifter species so far. We got wendigos, baby. And you already get a hint of which pride member is going to find himself mated to one.
I don’t think I need to recommend this one do I? All the Whitedell Pride addicts out there are going to be all over it. If you are looking to discover a new, addictive shifter series, don’t even try to start here. You need to go back to the beginning, to book number one.
