REVIEW:
Another great book from Sue Brown. Well written characters and a well written story that is bound to appeal. I will say, I did want to reach in and slap at least one of the characters on more than one occasion. But isn’t that the sign of a really good author, when they can make us care about the characters enough to get annoyed with them? Good job Ms. Brown!
Morgan Conway messed up really badly five years ago. The love of his life, who he grew up with, and who was the only one for Morgan forever, started pulling away and needing time to himself. In a fit of spite, Morgan had sex with a woman. His first woman ever, and all for spite. Unfortunately his partner, Shae, caught them in the act. Shae Delamere was destroyed by Morgan’s infidelity. He walked out the door and never came back.
Skip to today and Morgan is now a successful Assistant Director in the motion picture industry, and he also owns a coffee shop called MC’s. He is happily engaged to an up and coming, extremely hot, actor and life is good. Well, until the day he falls asleep at MC’s while reading a script with his fiancé Jase. Morgan wakes up to see Shae standing there. We soon learn that Shae is now an established professor, living and teaching in Austin, TX. His father is very ill and he is in town to see his dad. He had no idea when he walked in to get a coffee that the MC in the name stood for Morgan Conway, so he is as surprised to see Morgan as Morgan is to see him!
What follows is a tale of lies and deceit going back five years. Both Morgan and Shae have been lied to in order to keep them apart. They both thought they were trying to communicate through Shae’s friend Pete, but it turns out Pete wasn’t communicating to the opposite ends. He had his own reasons for lying to both and keeping them apart, which comes out somewhere along the way.
But what is Shae hiding from Morgan? Why the secret phone calls? Is he lying about being single? What about Jase, who becomes super uncommunicative after meeting Shae and seeing the way that Morgan looked at him? What is Jase up to? How will Morgan handle loving two men once he realizes he never stopped loving Shae?
I’ll be honest, I figured out the plot surprise at about 45% or so of the book, but it didn’t make it any less entertaining. Near the end of the book I was calling Morgan bad names under my breath, but the ending was good, so I’m happy.
I highly recommend this book. I think you will enjoy the story, the well written characters, and the pace with which the book flows. I went to bed at midnight after reading half and had to get back up at 4:30 AM to finish it! Pick it up today, you won’t be sorry.
Sue Brown is owned by her dog and two children. When she isn’t following their orders, she can be found plotting at her laptop. In fact she hides so she can plot and has gotten expert at ignoring the orders.
Sue discovered M/M erotica at the time she woke up to find two men kissing on her favorite television series. The series was boring; the kissing was not. She may be late to the party, but she’s made up for it since, writing fan fiction until she was brave enough to venture out into the world of original fiction.
