M.J O’Shea is stopping over at Love Bytes today to talk about her new release the second part in the coconut series she is writing with Poppy Dennison

Setting
Poppy and I had quite a long conversation when we were thinking about the setting for our series Coconut Cove. We knew we wanted the TV show to be a teen drama set in a fictional beach town. California was discussed and then turned down and we decided that Coconut Cove would be filmed on the island of Key West. It seemed perfect!
Neither of us have been there (Yet!) but the place seemed ideal. It was small, unique, miles of beautiful beaches and tons of unique architecture. We were in love! There’s lots to see in Key West, which hopefully we’ll both learn someday soon but there were a few things we wanted to focus on when we were drawing up the scenes in our heads.
1. The Orchid Palms/Historic Key West — a small boutique hotel in a converted plantation style mansion. There are a lot of them in the historical district. I was drooling. Our actors live in one of them while they’re filming the first season, and it’s used in a lot of the scenes. It had to be lovely, unique, small (for a hotel), and have a pool.
2. Key West row houses — in book two, Blair the main character doesn’t live with the others since he’s a Key West local. I wanted somewhere small but picturesque, perhaps a tiny bit worn as well for him and his mother to live in.
3. The beach — obviously! Key West is famous for gorgeous beaches. I’d take any one of them.
I love the laid back vibe of the island, its historical aspect, the way it seems like all you need is a bike and some sunscreen and you’re good to go. Writing these books has made me want to go there ASAP. Maybe once I’m there, I’ll never want to go home:)

I’m Mj O’Shea, author of erotic romance–well all sorts of romance actually, that’s just what’s been published so far!
I grew up, and still live, in sunny Washington state and while I love to visit other places, I can’t imagine calling anywhere else home.
I spent my childhood writing stories. Sometime in my early teens, the stories turned to romance. Most of those were about me, my friends, and our favorite tv stars. Hopefully, I’ve come a long way since then…

When I’m not writing, I love to play the piano and cook and paint pictures…and of course read. It’s nearly impossible to work on my own writing when I’ve gotten myself hooked into a great new book:) I like sparkly girly girl things, own at least twenty different colored headbands, and I have a little white dog with a ginger eye spot who sits with me when I write. Sometimes she comes up with ideas for me too…when she’s not napping.
