BLURB:
To bond with his destined mate, an Alpha wolf must look past what he sees and trust what he feels. Bonded by their parents before they were conceived, wolf shifters Abel and Kai adored each other since they were children. As teens, the two future Alphas took the next step in their bonding process and vowed to remain true to one another until Kai came of age. But when tragedy struck, Abel felt betrayed and ran from Kai instead of completing their mating. Abel never stops yearning for the man who was supposed to lead by his side and after years without contact, Kai returns, broken and on death’s door. If Abel wants to fulfill their destiny and merge their packs, he’ll need to look past what he saw and trust his heart.
REVIEW:
Abel and Kai are pack alphas who were betrothed at a young age. They are supposed to be mated once they come of age, but before the mating takes place, Abel discovered Kai in a compromising position. Abel assumes that Kai was disloyal, and ends up leaving him. For the next ten years Abel tries to move on and make something of his life, but his existence without the prospect of being with Kai is dismal. Though they didn’t complete their bonding, it is clear to Abel that he and Kai were meant to be together and no one else will ever do. This becomes even clearer when circumstances bring the two back together.
This story was good, but very different. I’ve read a lot of shifter books, but I liked how normal these wolves and their packs appeared and how they seemed to blend in with regular people. From all that happens in the beginning of this book, I couldn’t see a relationship between Abel and Kai ever working, so I was happy how things work out in the end. Though I liked the storyline, the sex seemed a little rushed considering Kai’s state and the fact that they hadn’t seen one another in ten years. However, it made sense for them to complete their mating, which was long overdue. Overall, this story was entertaining as well as touching, and I’ll definitely read more from this author.
