BLURB:
A rookie’s dream. A forbidden coach. A dragon forced to deny his own mate.
As a rookie winger for the Colorado Dragons, Dante Hale is finally skating on NHL ice, fighting for his place on a team that chews up the unproven and spits them out. The pressure is relentless, the expectations brutal—but Dante is young, driven, and determined to earn every inch of this life.
What he doesn’t expect is his coach.
Theron Kincaid is older, untouchable, and entirely off-limits. As head coach of the Dragons, he’s Dante’s boss, his judge, and the man who could end his career with a single word. He’s also something far more dangerous and ancient—something Dante doesn’t even know exists.
Theron has already paid once for trusting a human with dragon secrets—and his human mate paid with her life. Her death was ruled a convenient accident. Theron has never believed that lie.
So when Dante’s presence ignites something fierce and undeniable, Theron does the only thing he knows how to do—he locks it down, even as his dragon recognizes Dante as something dangerously close to his true mate.
Because a rookie and his coach is forbidden enough.
But choosing Dante could cost him more than his career.
And this time, Theron won’t risk another life to the flames.
REVIEW:
This has quickly become one of my favorite new series. Hockey and dragons are such a good combination. This time around, we have Dante, a young rookie who is traded to the Dragons after a bit of a scandal involving a relationship with a teammate went really bad. The ex made up horrendous lies about Dante and they followed him right to the Colorado Dragons. He worked hard to get a spot once he was finally given the chance to actually play but it isn’t long before trouble finds him again.
Theron is the older dragon and coach of the Colorado Dragons. He realizes pretty quickly that things may not be what he was led to believe with Dante and he takes some time to really get a feel for what he thinks might be going on. He also realizes they are mates, but allowing anything to happen could be detrimental to both of their careers. When Dante gets hurt, that all sort of changes the perspective on things.
Again, I am loving this fun and interesting story. Each dragon we’ve met so far has been unique, and I’ve enjoyed all of them so far. It was great to see the others again too, and I’m really looking forward to seeing where this story leads from here. Definitely recommend if you are tired of the same old shifter story. Ms. Sue really knows how to deliver a great paranormal/fantasy story.
