One of the most beautiful love stories I have ever read, amazingly written and will make your heart flutter like you are either Kitt or Austin.
Texas Pride is the first book in the Texas Pride series. Although this was originally published a while back, it is being re-published with a new second book.
Austin Grainger has been in the limelight for much longer than he likes to think. He is done, he wants to retire and although he is at the pinnacle of his career, he is willing to give all that up for something real. And what is more real than buying himself land and living off it. What he didn’t count on was the Texas rancher (from whom Austin bought his land) who owns that big expanse of land next to his own. Kitt Kelly is young and smart whose heart belongs to his land. Although he knows he is gay, there is absolutely no way he would come out because he knows in his heart that he will lose everything he has worked for. He has his family to provide for, two younger sisters and his stepmother. But when Austin arrived and their attraction to each other became something more, he has to decide whether to risk it all or continue hiding himself. Austin himself has not formally come out as well so the two of them have to be really careful.
What started out as a way for them to be real about who they are became something more when pictures of Kitt came out on the tabloids and although Austin was not in the picture, it was taken by Austin’s security personnel and Austin was supposed to erased all of it but he kept them instead for his personal use. Austin felt responsible for what is happening and he swore to Kitt that he will do everything in his power to solve it. By this time, they know that they love each other although they still have to unpack these feelings when they get the chance.
Austin and Kitt are two of the most wonderful characters that Ms. Kindle Alexander has ever created and they deserve all the happiness they can get. The world owes it to them. Especially to Kitt who has been denying his true self because of what he thinks people will think about him. He would not jeopardize the future of his family for his own desires.
I loved this book the first time I read it a few years back and fell in love again this time around. Ms. Kindle Alexander writes stories that stays with you for a long time, and just rereading this again has made me come back to it a few more times this time around.
