How do Coke and Dillon take care of each other when everything goes wrong?
Bullfighter Coke is having a rough time of things.
When his good friend Sam Bell is injured at the finals of the bull riding season, he takes it pretty hard. Add in his own injuries, and it’s a tough row to hoe. His person clown, Dillon, is determined to take care of Coke, which is tough when Coke is usually the one to protect and save everyone else.
And Coke has a pretty big secret from his past rearing its head, too. When Dillon digs to discover what it is, the skeletons in Coke’s closet threatens to destroy them both. Can they stick together and make everything right?

REVIEW:
One of the things I now realize is that the first season of this wonderful series was written years ago. Being out and proud in a testosterone-fused sport like Bullriding just wasn’t a thing back then. You didn’t go flaunting your love for another man. Circuit sponsors, bullriding fans and owners weren’t as open as they might be today. So please keep this in mind when you are reading this series.
This book picks up the night that Sam was rushed to the hospital with his horrific head injury. And Coke and Nate aren’t taking it well at all. They blame themselves personally for Sam having to drop down on the knocked-out Beau to protect him. At least surgery went well, but things are gonna be rough for Sam. This is coming on the heels of Jason getting hurt so bad in the head that he’s blind. It’s just been a long hard year. So when Dillon takes Coke and the pups up to his spread in Idaho life is a teeny bit quieter. But AJ‘s wife isn’t doing so good with her newest pregnancy and then there’s a wreck. So, it’s time to go back down in the midst of it all. But when Dylan casually drops a hint that he knows that Coke had a twin brother all hell breaks loose. And Coke does what Coke does best…grab his go-bag and took off. Dillon knows he screwed up royally not listening to folks telling him to drop it. So off after Coke he goes. And this time he’s gonna make sure that Coke knows running isn’t the answer. Talking it out with Dillon is the right answer. Because this is true love forever.
Coke has fought so hard for so long to make sure his bull riders are safe and protected. He’s built a team of heroes to do it. But sometimes things just go really, really wrong. And bad injuries happen. Heck, Coke has broken his neck twice! But Coke’s demons from his past childhood drive him on to try to save everyone, no matter what it does to himself. This story finally lets us see what’s been driving him all these years. Something I never would have guessed. And the found family that love and support him are there to help pick up the pieces. Because, rest assured, everyone loves Gramps!
Now everything is finally slotting into place, and I am holding on for the ride, wanting to know that everyone is taken care of and loved by who they love. Not who society tells you you should be loving.
There is a nice little Novella/short story bonus at the end of this book “In the Pocket” that introduces us to the young Sterling and Colby.
