BLURB:

There once was a dancer. The moment I saw his golden, oiled skin, kohl lined, dark eyes, and chocolate brown curls, I knew he just might be the man of my dreams. After only one kiss, I knew he could be the center of my world, but something stopped me from trying to make him mine. Perhaps it was his youth or innocence, though everyone else missed the real beauty which lay just beneath the surface.

There once was a warrior. The moment I saw his powerful body sauntering toward the cage where I danced, I couldn’t take my eyes off him. It was the way he moved, the sexy, blue eyes which looked right into my soul. I saw him for what he was…a kind, decent man who could be mine if he would only let it be so.

There once was an awful day where we were ripped apart, our bodies no longer entwined but separated by cruel fate. I knew only suffering after that and the loss of so many possibilities.

There once was a future for us, happiness on the horizon. But now, things seemed impossible. I was in hiding, and he was far away, recovering from what they did to him.

There once were possibilities…love, hope, and happiness.

And God willing, we’ll someday be together again.

REVIEW:

I have throughly been enjoying this new spin-off series so much and Rex, the tall sexy Texan sniper and fabulous cook on Candy’s team, story definitely did not disappoint!

Tex has finally decided that his dry spell has gone on long enough since he arrived in LA. He then ventures out the the gay meat market bar that everyone on his Spec. Ops team boasts about. Dance Hall Boys was bustling at close to midnight when he made his appearance. He was picky however and no one was catching his eye. That is until the go-go boy in the cage next to him let out a bark of laughter. All tan skin and dark curls pack in that lithe and petite body and those eyes captivated him. When 3 college frat boys start he heckling the beautiful boy Rex takes matters at hand. Cachi had noticed the sky high gorgeous man since he wandered around the club but was thankful Rex came to his rescue when one of those idiot drunken frat boys got too handsy. But Rex showed his true heroic nature a bit latter when he rescued Cachi from them in the parking lot of the club. But can a 35 year old Texan FBI Sec. Ops. Agent and 25 year old Puerto Rican go-go dancer that still lives with his family make a go of it? Especially when tragedy strikes?

This story came in true Patricia Logan fashion. I swear she isn’t happy unless she is torturing or maiming one of my men. And Tex didn’t even see it coming. Nothing is more cowardly than shooting a man in the back. That’s just low life evil thugs! And I got where Rex was coming from. Burdening the younger man to a life of constant servitude if his mobility and feeling never returned. Let alone not being able to properly service his mate was a huge ask. But the way he sent the poor sweet man that loved him and his sweet Lola with his caring and loving heart was just WRONG!!! He hurt him so badly. And if it had been anyone else they would have booted his mean ass to the curb! But Cachi loved Rex completely and only wanted to be with the man that had captured his heart. He didn’t care if Rex was stuck in a wheelchair the rest of his life. He wanted Rex’s heart forever. So Rex blindly rejected Cachi to give his younger lover a chance at life was selfless but completely off its mark. Thankfully Author Patricia Logan isn’t so cruel as to keep these love birds apart but I was cursing her strongly the whole book.

I have been patiently waiting for Rex’s story. Everyone constantly raved about his culinary talents. I was kinda disappointed that we didn’t get to enjoy the fruits of his labor. But Cachi and his family’s home cooking had me drooling for some of those homemade chile rellenos Tia Carlotta made. Their my favorite Mexican food dish! I don’t know if the Puerto Rico version is different but I am more than willing to give it a go!!!

I will say that I think Cachi is the sweetest character that Patty has written in recent memory. He’s so good and sweet. His caring heart was easy to see immediately. He didn’t judge people by looks or status. He simply cared for them because they were good people and that’s who he is. I really hope that we hear that he gets to pursue his desires to be a veterinarian. Because he would be perfect.

This book and series are pure gold. Just the right amount of suspense laced with intrigue and danger. And, in true Patty style, just the right amount of heat 🔥🔥🔥. A huge thumbs up for me! Now I can’t wait to see who is up next. Will it be who Marcello, Cachi’s friend, who has eyes on one of Rex’s co-workers???

Great addition to a fabulous series! Can’t wait for more!!!
