I might be falling for a psychopath. My doctorate in Complex Psychopathy makes this a serious conflict of interest.
Silas and I are Wildlings—a chaotic crew of cousins and found family. Now that we’re all grown up, we’ve joined the Guardians, our family’s illegal vigilante operation in the Texas Hill Country. And Silas? He’s our most dangerous asset.
I’ve been fascinated by him ever since I found out he existed. Twenty years ago, the Guardians discovered him as a child in a genetics lab. He’d been created in a petri dish, made to resemble a terrifying old wives tale.
He’s also half a foot shorter and a hundred pounds lighter than me. Doesn’t matter. He’s still the scariest thing in any room. Yet he likes it when I’m in control.
Good news: my sister thinks we’re cute together. Bad news: my dad killed the man responsible for Silas’s terrifying genetics.
Worse news: my fathers hate the man I should not be sleeping with.
Beautiful Chaos is the final, bloody chapter in the Wildlings trilogy. It features a tattooed psycho only a therapist can love, a dragon-inspired marital aid, and a self-cleaning murder room.
REVIEW:
Note: This book’s timeline overlaps with some of the first book and is the kickoff to a new series. That being said, there is a lot of crossover and cameo appearances by characters from previous series by this author. I have not read the entire backlist of these series, but I have read enough of Wrecked, Wild Heart Ranch, Guardians, Mobsters & Billionaires, Lost Boys, etc. series to know the major players and recognize events that are referenced (and there are crossovers in those series as well). While there are a lot of characters here, I think the author gives at least enough backstory/information to give the reader a sense of what has occurred in the previous generations (and will likely entice readers who haven’t delved into those series to jump on the bandwagon). Also PLEASE head the content warnings.
Well. This is the last of the Wildlings books. Sad this ride is over, because these were some barn burners.
Silas was found by the Guardians on a mission. He has been abused, genetically altered and suffered a lot of trauma. But he’s now an adult and he’s still dealing with things.
Oakley has been raised in this rather unconventional found family. He’s very much the opposite of Silas in many ways. But there is a fascination there 🙂
When they act on their attraction and connection, well there are opinions! This whole group is so into each other’s business 😉 They are sweet and very very sexy together.
As with all Kelly Fox books in this universe, you know there will be drama, suspense, violence and vigilante justice and this is no exception. It’s very much edge of your seat reading at times. There are also some welcome moments of reconciliation. Love seeing my other favorite characters here, especially Hopper (who really is a soul brother to Silas in some ways). This was another roller coaster ride with this extended family group. Told from multiple POVs, I appreciated how this relationship progressed between Silas and Oakley, but also in the larger family dynamic. Fans of this universe I think will be satisfied with this final Wildlings chapter. Highly recommended.
