This one shows you right from the start what you’re going to get, so if you make it past the first few pages and then complain about the content, that’s on you.  We meet Cy who is a Vampyre Slayer in this world where Vampyres have taken over the world (saved it if you believe them) and the humans who escaped are basically living underground.

In this world, the tables are turned and humans are reduced to cattle bred and grown for feed and other activities.  There are many aspects to this, one being veal farms.  It seems that most people were born in this captivity.  Cy is one who was able to escape and join the group of people on a mission to kill the Vampyres and take back over the world.

Unfortunately, he is captured.  Eventually, he ends up the pet for Haven, a Vampyre “royal” who ends up being very different from the other vamps.  Much happens as these two get to know one another.  Things are heating up in the Vampyre community and it is hard to know who to trust.  Haven has an interesting story all of his own and it plays an important role in this story.

Needless to say, as this story moved along, I was drawn farther and farther in.  There are twists and turns that keep it interesting.  However, there is a good bit of horror/gore and torture/violence to get through, but I was turning pages and can’t wait to see how this plays out.  First time with this author for me, and I have definitely added her to my reading list.
