These two books, previously published, have been brought together as a Christmas collection and they are everything you need for a quiet read in front of the tree with a blanket and a hot chocolate.
The fairy shop
Nate has won custody of his daughter who was traumatised by watching her abusive step father beat her mother and is now terrified of big men. He’s doing everything he can to make Delly happy, including putting his personal life in hold.
On a rare night out at a bar, he meets Asher, a huge, tattooed man who Nate is instantly attracted to. Their chemistry is off the charts and a fantastic him up leaves them both wanting more.
Asher is a teddy bear but Delly’s terrified of him and Nate is turn between being the Dad he knows he needs to be, and the perfect partner for him.
That’s where The Fairy Shop comes in and … You’ll have to read the book to find out what happens next.
The happy ending is gorgeous and this story is sweet, steamy and totally magical.
The fairy dance
This is the story of New York Ballet star Henri love to dance but what he didn’t love and maintenance company owner Jed.
Henri has a manipulative mother who’s pushing him to sleep with his director to get better roles. His life is way too complicated for romance.
Jed, on the other hand, is feeling like his romantic life is passing him by and is tired if meaningless hook ups.
They met one night when at the bar and end up sharing dinner and going back to Jed’s place. The chemistry between the beautiful ballerino and the hunky janitor is incendiary and their hook up is so deliciously steamy! Henri leaves straight away and doesn’t leave his number, so Jed has no idea how to get in touch with him to see if they could be more.
Poor Henri has stuff to deal with (no spoilers) but neither he nor Jed can forget their time together. So much happens in this short story, it’s amazing that Tara Lain fitted it all in, but it doesn’t feel rushed at all.
I enjoyed the first story a little more but both were great and using the same settings made them feel like the belonged in the same book.
Lain’s world building and characterisations are well thought out and crafted. The magical element really worked and they both felt very christmassy.
