What do you do when you have nothing to give and everything to lose?
Twin goblin princes Shi’chen and A’bbni Er-Ha’sen did not ever plan to take the Emperor’s throne. Older twin Shi’chen is a military prodigy, and younger twin A’bbni is studying to be a physician. But when their father attempts and fails to overthrow their cousin, the murderous crown prince, the brothers are accused of taking part in a rebellion they know nothing about.
Forced to flee for their lives, the twins find that not everything is what it seems in the goblin empire of Hanenea’a. With the help of only a half-elf sailor and a handful of nobles, the brothers must confront the Emperor and his supporters, risking everyone they love for one chance to save it all.
The Goblin Twins is a debut m/m non-magic fantasy novel with romance from Kit Barrie.
This is the first book of The Goblin Twins duology, and the first of a collection of stories set in the lands of Hanenea’a and Kendarin. It has all the angst but does have a Happy For Now ending with no cliff-hanger. It does not contain twincest.
Please mind the author’s note on the first page, as this book contains sensitive material and is also not intended for children. Additional information can be found on kitbarrie.com. Reader discretion is advised.
Notes
This book does NOT contain twincest. The twins are physical with one
another due to goblin culture, but their interactions are not sexual.
For those who want to skip the heavy rape/torture parts, the majority of
the torture occurs in Chapter 2, and the assault is at the end of Chapter 2.
REVIEW:
Absolutely stunning story!
While the intro looked quite complicated, the opposite was true. The story was clearly described, wonderfully portrayed and good to interpret. The trouble for me was the names, oh my goodness all those (beautiful) extraordinary names. I always have trouble with names, but here, it was too much, and my brain hurt. Lol.
The twin goblin Shi’chen and A’bbni are princes, very close, physically (non-sexual) and mentally, they are always near each other. Shi’chen is the protector and A’bbni the caregiver.
First, there’s an attack on their lives by their cousin En’shea, then they are under arrest for high treason against the crown. All done by their cousin. They have to flee for their lives and face their fears, separately and together.
To eliminate slavery and free all goblins and other citizens they’ll have to take the Emperor’s throne back, they need all the help they can find. Surprisingly and thank goodness help offers itself.
When Lai enters the twin’s close relationship, something unique blooms, carefully, a romance, an intense friendship, growing feelings, with a sweet dynamic.
The road to the throne isn’t easy, it’s hurtful, dark, and cruel, so cruel… *shudder*
What a fantastically written fantasy story this is, with extraordinary scenery.
This story is written in detail, perfect to visualize. It was intriguing and hugely captivating, at times I wanted them to hurry up, I wanted peace and comfort.
I think this journey had to be torture for the author, I mean… all those names *scream* lol.
The author did a wonderful job. I think this read is worth being filmed!!
Mind the trigger warnings.
