Blurb
Private investigator Sloane Beaumont should be enjoying his recent engagement to eldritch god Azaethoth the Lesser, AKA Loch. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have time for a pre-honeymoon period.
The trouble starts with a deceptively simple missing persons case. That leads to the discovery of mass kidnappings, nefarious secret experiments, and the revelation that another ancient god is trying to bring about the end of the world by twisting humans into an evil army.
Just another day at the office.
Sloane does his best to juggle wedding planning, stopping his fiancé from turning the mailman inside out, and meeting his future godly in-laws while working the case, but they’re also being hunted by a strange young man with incredible abilities. With the wedding date looming closer, Sloane and Loch must combine their powers to discover the truth—because it’s not just their own happy-ever-after at stake, but the fate of the world….
“You’re thinking,” Loch declared once they were back in Sloane’s apartment, studying him skeptically.
“Technically, I’m always thinking.”
“Mmm, no. This is different. Your face gets these cute little creases in it when you’re thinking especially hard.”
“I’m….” Sloane searched for the right words. “I’m worried, Loch.”
“About?” Loch asked calmly, bringing Sloane in for a hug.
“Everything?” Sloane laid his head against Loch’s chest. “There are literally hundreds of gods. It could be almost anyone doing this, and that guy, that kid? He’s out there too.”
“You’re worried that you’re in danger?” Loch kissed Sloane’s hair. “I’ll protect you, my love.”
“I’m worried about everyone,” Sloane whispered. “The whole world is in danger. This is the second time a god has tried to destroy it! First it was your crazy brother trying to wake up your even more crazy father! And now we don’t know what this one is trying to do, and, and, and—”
“He or she is kidnapping innocent Silenced people to make terrifying magic-defying weapons?” Loch helpfully supplied.
“Yes!” Sloane scowled. “Why… why aren’t you upset? How can you be so freakin’ calm about this?”
“Because I am certain of our victory. Just as I am certain that I love you and that you love me, I know we will not fail.”
His anger deflating, Sloane gazed helplessly up at Loch. “I want… I want to believe that.”
“Believe it,” Loch urged. “Believe in our love. Even after all the stars fall down from the sky, our love is eternal.” He pressed his lips against Sloane’s neck, his teeth teasing beneath his jaw. “They’ll tell stories about us, about our love and how we saved the world. Not once, but twice!”
“Mmm…. Loch….” Sloane gave himself over, his eyes closing as Loch expertly pulled his clothes away. A surge of heat was bubbling up fast between his legs in anticipation of what was to come. “But the energy…. Galgareth said it was godly….”
“You’re still so tense,” Loch chastised gently, kissing down Sloane’s bare shoulder. “You need to relax.”
“If the energy was godly and the source of the guy’s power is the soul bound to him… oh fuck!” Sloane groaned as his ass got wet, Loch sliding a tentacle down his pants to tease between his cheeks.
“Let me take care of you, my sweet Starkiller.” Loch pushed the tip of his tentacle inside his hole and fucked into him slowly.
“We have research… so much research to do!” Sloane’s voice didn’t sound very strong, even to his own ears, and he couldn’t help a small moan that escaped when Loch licked his ear. “Fuck! Focus, Loch!”
“I am very focused!” Loch insisted, thrusting in deeper. “I have a particular interest that I’m very eager to research.”
“Mmmph, in what?” Sloane gasped.
“So glad you asked,” Loch chirped. “You see, it’s in human anatomy, and I just know you’ll be able to help me.”
