Parker,
I never meant for any of this to happen, to fall for you. It doesn’t matter that we’re both adults, or how much we want this to work. The college policy is clear. I can’t see a way around this without one of us getting hurt. If I would’ve known who you were when we met online, I would have never pursued a relationship. I’m new to all of this, and besides my daughter, getting to know you has been the best thing to ever happen to me. But I can’t make you hide again. I won’t. It’s not fair to either of us.
Deepest regrets, Donovan

Dear Mr. Brody,
You’re right, we are adults. I’m twenty-four years old, and I think I can decide for myself what’s best for me. If this is about you losing your job, I’ll walk away. But if this is you trying to protect me, then you’re an idiot. I want you. I care about you. My past isn’t an issue. What we’re doing… it isn’t the same thing. If we have to hide, so be it. I’m not ready to let you go.
Your Lost Boy, Parker
REVIEW:
“Every time I’m with you I feel like I’m chasing this feeling, and it’s big, Parker. And tonight… I finally caught up to it. I’ve never felt this good. Ever.”
The fantastic Dear Mr. Brody is the third book in the For Him series by A.M. Johnson. The books are tied together through Asher Lowe’s literary agency. Wilder Welles (Love Always, Wild) is one of his best selling authors, and Donovan Brody is one of his agents. This volume picks up two years after Asher and Ethan’s story left off in Not So Sincerely, Yours.
Donovan (Van) is embarking on some major life changes. He recently divorced his cheating wife of ten years, but upon reflection, he realized it had never been a fully satisfying, happy marriage. The marriage did result in Anne, his lovely ten-year-old daughter, though. He’s also beginning a second career with a part-time job as an adjunct professor of creative writing at a small, local college. He has longed to teach eager, young minds, and one of those students is twenty-four-year-old Parker Mills, a preternaturally talented writer.
Parker is a flirt who sets out to ruffle Mr. Brody’s feathers from the first class.
The other change is that Van is looking to satiate the bi-curiosity he’s never indulged. He needs to figure out who he is outside of his marriage and fatherhood; what does he want next out of life as a bisexual man? He has no idea how to date and isn’t interested in hook-ups, so he takes Wilder’s advice to check out an online dating app.
The other commonality in the series is an entertaining plot device – letters, emails, and texts written between the leading men. In this case, Van, as “James” begins messaging on the app with “Michael” whom we know as Parker. He hasspent four years closeted while serving in the Air Force and is ready to be out and proud in a committed relationship. Of course, neither man knows who they’re really chatting – and sexting – with. The first time they indulge in sexy times in real life is heavenly for them … and, ahem, for me, too.
The previous series’ characters are all present to varying degrees, including Asher, Ethan, Wilder, and Jax. New to this story are Parker’s best friend/roommate/Air Force buddy, Marcos, who is over-the-top fun, Van’s family, and easy-going Anne.
This book could have easily been taken in a more dramatic direction so many ways, and I’m glad Ms. Johnson didn’t go there. It’s a delightful, low-angst book that I’m happy to recommend.
