REVIEW:
I have wanted to read the original series to this for a LONG time and with reading this one, yeah, I can now confirm I was right and want to go back and read from the beginning. This is an amazing paranormal book. One that I cannot recommend enough. It has EVERYTHING you want. From action, to betrayals, all kinds of paranormals, a twist that just makes the book not able to put down. I was in heaven.
I love the different takes I read in paranormal books. That’s why I think I love them so much. I’ve said that before. And reading this take on how the paranormal world works was an amazing one. From the way male witches are treated to the way vampires live. There are certain things that are and aren’t done. And I thoroughly enjoyed the take in this one. I love Seiran’s will to survive anything in this book, but I also feel his pain at having a gift he doesn’t want at times, because the pains and all the crap he has to endure that come with it. From losing the love of his life to the possibilities of losing his own children. And that’s a whole other story as well, but you have to read to find out that one. But Seiran is a survivor. No matter what happens in his life, and it’s a lot, he’s determined, if nothing else, to be there for his kids, the way no one was there for him. Even the love of his life. Gabe.
Having Gabe pop back up in Seiran’s life when he did was no coincidence, but again, I feel for Seiran because it’s another notch of something that is thrown at him at the wrong time. But he handles it. Whether good or bad, he deals with. And I love it. I love Gabe too. Knowing what he went through and making the sacrifice he did, although it wasn’t known for that at the time, and then being pulled from the rest he needed before he was ready and having to navigate life with no memories of much of anything. Yet, his instincts told him what he needed to do and where he needed to be and he listened. And because of it, things may have gotten bad, but he was able to make a start in fixing things that were wrong the first time. He’s a survivor as well.
I think that’s what I love so much about these two. They’ve had so much thrown at them for so long, and yet, despite everything, they’ve survived. There may have been times when they didn’t want to, but they endured. They tried to take what was wrong and make it right. Make a stand and show that sometimes, being underestimated is not a smart thing.
I can’t wait to see what is coming next with this series. I’m definitely hooked. This was the perfect book for me and I’m so glad I got the opportunity to read it.
